Wrexham managed to let a two-goal lead slip after a poor second-half performance against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Red Dragons are still waiting on their first win of the 2025/26 Championship season after Wrexham drew 2-2 with Sheffield Wednesday.

Kieffer Moore opened up his account for Wrexham, bagging two goals in the first half, which was expected to put the Red Dragons out of sight against a beleaguered Sheffield Wednesday side.

However, Sheffield Wednesday mounted an impressive comeback, courtesy of goals by Barry Bannan and Bailey Cadamarteri.

After a poor showing by the Red Dragons, who still await their first Championship win, here is how we rated each player…

Danny Ward

Pressure was on to provide a top performance after the struggles against West Brom. Whilst not meeting many attempts from Sheffield Wednesday, he did well when tested. Stood firm to deny Ike Ugbo from inside the box. He was left stranded for Barry Bannan’s goal. 6

Max Cleworth

Unable to track the run of Olaf Kobacki, which resulted in a half chance for Sheffield Wednesday. 6

Conor Coady

A commanding performance at the back, worked well in cohesion alongside Max Cleworth and Lewis Brunt. 7

Lewis Brunt

Top defending to get in front of a ferocious effort by Charlie McNeill. Committed to a top challenge to deny Ike Ugbo from close quarters. 7

Ryan Longman

Looked to be back to his best, having managed to skip past Sheffield Wednesday wide-man Olaf Kobacki. Helped bring Kieffer Moore into the game with his crossing ability. Two words…absolutely rapid. 8

James McClean

Quiet showing but did not put a foot wrong in the first half. Helped spread play by hugging the touchline, whilst also working well to switch the play and link up well with Ryan Longman. 6

Matty James

Kept Wrexham ticking over by playing a role in the attacking build-up. Looked very composed on the ball. Midfield struggled in the second half. 5

George Dobson

Tested Ethan Horvath with a ferocious effort outside the box, which led to Kieffer Moore doubling Wrexham’s lead. Showed brilliant initiative to take the shot against a goalkeeper low on confidence. 6

Lewis O’Brien

Provided a sumptuous cross from a free kick to find Kieffer Moore for the opening goal. 7

Nathan Broadhead

Did not see too much of the ball in the first half, with Kieffer Moore getting plenty more of the action. Overambitious crossfield ball when Wrexham were on a counter-attack, which deflated a top chance for the Red Dragons. 5

Kieffer Moore

Very composed to open his account for Wrexham, slotting the ball in from a set-piece. First to reach the ball dropping into his direction. Once again showed brilliant striker instincts to pounce on Ethan Horvath’s spilled save. Constantly put pressure on the Sheffield Wednesday backline. 9
