Wrexham welcomed Sheffield Wednesday to North Wales in search of their first three points of the season.

Phil Parkinson handed a debut to Nathan Broadhead in the number ten position behind Kieffer Moore, whilst Ryan Longman replaced Ryan Barnett in two changes from the defeat to West Brom.

Wrexham confirmed the signing of Callum Doyle but the club’s tenth summer signing was made to wait for his full debut as he took a place on the bench.

It means that the Wrexham squad is in desperate need of trimming before the end of the transfer window and striker Ollie Palmer is one player expected to leave. He was spotted at the Sheffield Wednesday clash.

Palmer has been told to leave Wrexham before the September 1st deadline and the striker could re-join his former club AFC Wimbledon.

Parkinson wants to sell more players in order to balance the books after a summer of spending and one player linked with a move away is Jack Marriott.

Reading are interested in Marriott and the forward has been spotted watching the clash against Sheffield Wednesday in the stands alongside Palmer and George Evans.

Evans is another player who will be questioning his future at the club after being left out of another matchday squad.

Wrexham’s interest in Jordan James will also send alarm bells ringing for Evans as the club lines up yet another addition in central midfield.

Wrexham could lose a further three players before transfer deadline

Alongside the trio in the stands, Parkinson could still look to part ways with a further three players before the deadline.

Jacob Mendy is wanted on loan by several clubs despite taking a place on the substitutes bench for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday.

Elliot Lee and Dan Scarr are two more names that have been linked with a move away from the Racecourse in order to gain regular first-team football.

It will be an intriguing final week of the transfer window at the club with movement still expected both in and out of the door.
