Wrexham thrived for several years with Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer leading the line.
Wrexham’s first major signing of the Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds era saw Paul Mullin brought in on a free transfer.
It was a huge coup for the National League side, who had managed to convince League Two’s top goalscorer from 2020/21 to drop down to the fifth tier.
Six months later, Wrexham signed Ollie Palmer in the 2022 January transfer window.
Together, the pair have scored well over 100 goals to get the Red Dragons from the National League up to the Championship.
| Player | Goals |
| Paul Mullin | 105 |
| Ollie Palmer | 42 |
However, the long-time partnership is now expected to come to an end this summer.

Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer leaving Wrexham
Both players fell out of favour in the final few months of the 2024/25 season, not featuring in the league after a 3-2 defeat to Stevenage in January.
Reports on Friday have now claimed that Wigan Athletic have agreed a deal for Mullin, who is expected to join on loan.
As for his striker partner, it’s understood that Palmer has been told he can leave Wrexham in the current window.
No clubs are currently being linked with the 33-year-old, who has one year left to run on his contract.

Paul Mullin on Ollie Palmer partnership
It’s the end of an era at Wrexham, with Sam Smith and Ryan Hardie now likely to be Parkinson’s first-choice centre-forward duo.
The recently signed Jay Rodriguez and Jack Marriott would be the new backup number nine options, leaving no room for the old guard.
While neither is expected to feature for the club in 2025/26, Palmer and Mullin will always be remembered for their lethal partnership.
The Liverpool-born forward discussed his connection with Palmer last year after he finished as the club’s top scorer in 2023/24.
He said: “I think if you watched goals I’ve scored this season they will be assisted by a lot of people, and as you say, Ollie with a big mention, near toward the end of the season he come back into the team, I think with about 15 games to go, maybe a little bit less.
“And me and him have obviously had a really brilliant partnership since he signed for the club in January the other year.”
