Paul Mullin’s Wrexham exit has now been confirmed by talkSPORT. It comes after months of speculation over whether or not the striker would remain with the club.
Wrexham and Paul Mullin have been a match made in heaven. 105 goals in 165 games and three promotions makes him an undeniable modern day legend at the Racecourse.
But Phil Parkinson lost faith in the 30-year-old last season. Mullin played just once after January and couldn’t even get into the matchday squads, with his omission on the final day of the season speaking volumes.
Wrexham earned promotion after a 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic in their final home game, but Mullin couldn’t even get a run out on the final away game of the season away at Sincil Bank.
Since the end of the season, Mullin has been linked with a move to Wigan Athletic in League One. It’s even been claimed that Wrexham could let Mullin leave on a free transfer with his contract out in the summer of 2026.

Wigan Athletic set to sign Paul Mullin on loan from Wrexham
There’s now more clarity on what next season holds for Mullin. TalkSPORT have revealed that Mullin is ‘set to leave Wrexham to join Wigan Athletic’, adding that the pair are in talks over a potential loan deal for the 2025/26 season.
In a recent interview, Mullin gave his verdict on why Parkinson dropped him and explained that he had no idea why Parkinson lost faith in him last season, which is a feeling shared by many fans. Indeed, Wrexham fans sympathised with Mullin over the whole situation, but an exit this summer looked inevitable either way.
It’s understood that Mullin wants to remain in the north-west and so a loan move to Wigan looks like it’ll work out perfectly for him, and if he can find his scoring form again then the Latics will have a very good striker on their hands.

What’s next for Wrexham in the summer transfer window?
With Mullin’s situation all but sorted, it means Parkinson can focus his attentions on other matters, and on more player signings after Wrexham signed Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle.
Unfortunately though, there doesn’t seem to be any players close to signing for the Dragons just yet. Although Parkinson has hinted at new signings being close and so the club could pull a new singing out of nowhere, as they did with Hardie.
There remains a number of positions on the pitch to bolster. But it looks like Parkinson is determined to sign a new centre-back this summer, and that need has grown after Norwich City signed Harry Darling who was a key target for Wrexham.
What comes next for Wrexham in the market remains anyone’s guess. Though a signing in the next week wouldn’t surprise anyone.
