Phil Parkinson is not exactly a loved man at Wrexham this week after his team’s latest outing.

Wrexham clashed with Leyton Orient on Tuesday evening in a League One fixture, aiming to gain ground or at least keep pace with Wycombe Wanderers.

However, it was a very poor showing from the Red Dragons all over the pitch and they now have a big mountain to climb if they want to finish second.

Wrexham set an unwanted record against Leyton Orient and while losing is never good, it was the display on the night that drew the most ire.

Red Dragons fans were left angry at Phil Parkinson, suggesting his tactics on the day were not good enough.

Meanwhile, some Wrexham fans called for Parkinson to be sacked despite his previously excellent stint with the club.

Ben Foster verdict on Phil Parkinson

After just two wins from eight in the league in 2025, it’s easy to see why some supporters are not happy.

However, the former Bolton Wanderers boss has done so much for Wrexham in the past and, whether you like his style of play or not, he has enjoyed great success in Wales.

Meanwhile, former player Ben Foster, speaking live on talkSPORT Breakfast this week, has shared his verdict on the manager, who he thinks has done an ‘incredible job’.

He said: “They’ve invested solidly in really good, solid players that know that league really well. The manager Phil has done a really incredible job as well

“They’re still one of the football clubs that, if you could let a Premier League team, a big team, a proper team, have a manager with that much control, I think you’ll see clubs thriving again. I really do.

“Their model is fantastic. Phil Parkinson has his say from top to bottom in that football club.

“Every single player that comes in, he finds out, does due diligence, knows if they’ll work well within the group. Even if they’re a fantastic player but the other boxes aren’t ticked, he’s not signing them. It’s as simple as that.

“If big Premier League clubs could take note and follow suit like that, we’d have some unbelievable teams in this Premier League.”

However, as the club continues to grow along with their ambitions, he will have to match higher and higher expectations.

It would be short-sighted to sack their long-time boss so soon and even if they only finish in the top six and don’t go up via the play-offs this term, Parkinson should be given another chance in the 2025/26 campaign.
