Wrexham have blown their chance for a third meeting with Birmingham City this season.
The Red Dragons and the Blues have formed an intense rivalry on and off the field in 2024/25, in part due to their owners.
Rob McElhenney and Tom Brady have hit out at each other and their clubs in a jovial fashion as Wrexham and Birmingham City battle it out at the top end of League One.
However, it is Birmingham who are currently top of the division and almost certainly set to go up as champions.
The Midlands outfit hammered the Red Dragons in their first league fixture of the campaign before being held to a 1-1 draw at the Racecourse Ground in January.
There was a chance the two League One heavyweights would clash at Wembley later this term as well but that dream is now over after Wrexham lost to Peterborough United on Thursday.

Birmingham City fans do not like Wrexham
Birmingham had already booked their place in the EFL Trophy showpiece last week by seeing off Bradford City.
And after Wrexham lost on penalties to The Posh in the other semi-final, fans of the League One leaders have taken to social media to make their feelings on the Hollywood-owned club very clear.
One fan wrote: “We will never play Wrexham again in our history.”
A second added: “Owners would’ve been licking their lips at a Wrexham final. Personally happier with it being Peterborough. Won’t get all the daft Hollywood build-up.”
“Thank you, Peterborough for saving football. —- Wrexham. Up the Barry Fry final. Up the Blues,” another wrote.
A fourth stated: “Personally, I’m happy that the final will be a normal football match and not a media freak show. Wrexham took that game too lightly in my opinion, and they’ve paid the price. Looking forward to a superb occasion.”
Another Birmingham fan wrote: “Posh at Wembley it is, —- Wrexham,” while a sixth mocked: “There’s always next year.”
And a seventh added: “I’m happy about that, can’t —- stand Wrexham.”
Birmingham City can still help Wrexham
While their fans are clearly not enamored with Wrexham, their club could still do Parkinson and co. a big favour this weekend.
Birmingham are already well clear at the League One summit but second place is a closely contested battle between the Welsh side and Wycombe Wanderers.
Wycombe have a three-point lead going into the weekend but they must travel away to St Andrew’s on Saturday.
Wrexham fans want Birmingham to win that meeting, though they do feel strange about backing one of their biggest rivals.
