Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have just completed their fourth year as owners of Wrexham football club.
The two Hollywood stars surprisingly purchased Wrexham back in 2021 for around £2m, and have since gone about improving every facet of the club both on and off the pitch.
On the pitch, the improvements have been very noticeable. After buying the club while they were playing out their 13th consecutive season of non-league football, Wrexham have since climbed up two divisions and are now battling for promotion to the Championship – currently sitting third in the League One table.
Off the pitch, plenty of work has been done too. Improvements have been made to the stadium, with more to come after the redevelopment of the Kop stand was recently announced, and to the club’s brand as well.
Thanks to Rob and Ryan, Wrexham has become a surprising hotspot for celebrities in recent years, with the likes of Will Ferrell, Channing Tatum, Hugh Jackman, David Beckham and Jason Sudeikis all coming to the Welsh town to take in a game.

The town and club left a particular impression on Hollywood superstar Channing Tatum, who took to his social media to express his love for Wrexham.
Channing Tatum says he wants to stay in ‘magic’ Wrexham ‘forever’
The American actor has visited Wrexham on two separate occasions, most recently to film a Super Bowl advert for Stok Cold Brew Coffee with a host of the team’s star players.
Speaking about his latest experience in the town on Instagram, Channing was keen to heap praise on his friends Rob and Ryan for the work that the pair have done in the community:
“What Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have done for the community in Wrexham is magic,” wrote Channing.
“I spent a few days (and nights) there. The team and town have a sense of optimism and a ride or die loyalty that made me want to stay forever. Incredible work, Ryan and Rob. Good people build good things.”

Key to Wrexham’s recent successes has been the huge wave of com
mercial growth that Rob and Ryan have managed at the club.
That growth was exemplified during the 2025 Super Bowl on Sunday when Wrexham’s first-teamers were seen by over 100 million people in an advert with Channing Tatum for Stok Cold Brew Coffee.
Speaking in an interview about the ad, Channing admitted that he was incredibly nervous prior to filming but thoroughly enjoyed his time in the dressing room and out on the town with the club’s players:
“I was able to go and hang out with the guys the night before filming,” he said. “I went to the game and then it was Elliot Lee’s birthday the night after. We all just hung out. Such a good time.”
“I was still nervous,” he added. “I knew I was going to have to make a fool out of myself the next day in front of them. It could have gone one of two ways. They could have been, ‘Who is this dumb American actor, coming in here and doing whatever?’ This is their job. They work hard at what they do. They are having an incredible season. I didn’t know what the vibe was going to be. But they were just so sweet.”
Wrexham’s players will be back to footballing matters this Tuesday when they face Bolton in the Football League Trophy quarter-finals. Phil Parkinson’s men are aiming to win the competition for the first time in almost two decades.
