Wrexham are preparing to welcome Bristol Rovers to the Racecourse Ground in what could prove to be a pivotal round of fixture in the promotion battle.

Wrexham will be confident of securing three points against a Bristol Rovers side that have lost their last six League One games, whilst Wycombe face a tough trip to Bolton Wanderers.

Phil Parkinson confirmed Modou Faal’s injury ahead of the game but should have a strong squad to choose from for the clash at the Racecourse Ground, though Paul Mullin is expected to once again miss out.

The Red Dragons can afford no more slip ups in the promotion race but Parkinson will be well aware of what happened last time his side faced Bristol Rovers.

Phil Parkinson’s rant after Wrexham’s draw with Bristol Rovers

Wrexham threw away two points in the previous clash with Bristol Rovers this season after Elliot Lee’s opener was cancelled out by a late strike from Promise Omochere.

After the game, Parkinson was furious with his side’s inability to kill the game off and revealed he was ‘choked’ with the result.

Parkinson stated: “I’m choked, absolutely choked – it’s a game we’ve dominated really, never felt under any pressure in difficult conditions.

“Moments have cost us but really, if we’re honest on the balance of the game, the game should have been done and dusted by then. We should have been two or three up and that [equalising] goal should have been a consolation.”

Wrexham looking to extend good record on Good Friday

Heading into the festive weekend in the EFL, historically it has proven an important period in the season for teams fighting for promotion and relegation.

The Red Dragons can take optimism from their impressive record on Good Friday having lost just two of 14 games played on the day as per BBC Sport.

Parkinson could start Elliot Lee having already scored against Matt Taylor’s side this season and Wrexham need to try and close the gap with Wycombe on goal difference.

Promotion could come down to a fine margin such as goal difference and Lee’s involvement from midfield could provide more creativity for the side from North Wales.
