Elliot Lee missed out on Wrexham’s 2-1 victory against Blackpool at the Stok Racecourse through injury.
Lee wasn’t risked by Parkinson, who knew Wrexham had big games coming up this festive season.
Mullin was included instead of Lee, which was a decision that paid off. The veteran striker scored a looping volley and won Man of the Match, with Red Dragons supporters lauding Mullin’s display against the Tangerines.
Whilst Lee will have been disappointed to have missed out, he can now hopefully come back fully fit against Wigan, who travel to the Stok Racecourse on Saturday.
Lee seemingly didn’t miss a minute of the action – with Wrexham’s top goalscorer sending a message to his teammates following the well-earned Boxing Day victory.

Elliot Lee sends message to Wrexham squad after Blackpool win
Lee took to Instagram immediately after the fixture to send a simple, yet effective, three-word message to the Wrexham first-team squad that got the victory over the line without him.
He wrote: ‘Up the boys!!’ followed by a series of emojis. He clearly loved that one.

Whilst the Red Dragons got the win over the line, the side always does look better with Lee a part of it – which begs the question, when is he back?
Will Elliot Lee be available for the Wigan clash?
The answer is still not definitive, but Phil Parkinson is hopeful Lee will be back to face Wigan Athletic on Sunday the 29th of December.
Parkinson told club media just before kick-off on Thursday: “Yeah it’s only a minor injury, we had a scan straight away, and it’s not going to keep him out for long but we felt today was too much for him and it wasn’t worth the risk with the games we’ve got coming up.”
More information will be available in the coming days, no doubt, but the rest will have done Lee the world of good – and hopefully, we’ll see him in the starting XI once more before 2024 draws to a close.
