Wrexham may have lost at Stockport County on Saturday afternoon but are still going strong at the top end of the League One table.

Phil Parkinson will have had nightmares about last season’s 5-0 thrashing at Stockport County ahead of Wrexham’s latest trip to Edgeley Park on Saturday.

Wrexham weren’t embarrassed this time around but did still lose the game, falling to a 1-0 defeat against Dave Challinor’s side.

This was a fairly disappointing Wrexham performance and few players came out of the game with much credit.

Parkinson has praised goalkeeper Callum Burton for his performance but this was largely an afternoon to forget for Wrexham.

The table still shows Wrexham in third place in the League One table though, leaving Parkinson’s side right in the mix at the top end of League One.

Elliot Lee shares verdict on Wrexham dressing room

Wrexham should not be too deterred by Saturday’s defeat.

Away days have been tricky for Wrexham this season; all four defeats across all competitions have come on the road.

Wrexham have hit back with wins after the last three defeats and will be looking to do the same against Exeter City next weekend.

Parkinson will know the resolve in his group is strong and midfielder Elliot Lee has now discussed the Wrexham dressing room.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Lee has admitted that the Wrexham design room is the best he has ever been a part of in his career.

Lee noted that everybody sticks together when the going gets tough – something which will be important after the defeat to Stockport.

Lee added that he knows he isn’t the only player who simply loves playing for Wrexham, feeling ‘lucky’ to play for the club.

“It’s the best changing room I’ve ever been a part of,” said Lee.

“The staff, players, everyone’s together, they’re just good honest people who want to work hard for each other and achieve success together. That’s why we have been successful over the last couple of years.

“When times aren’t going well, we stick together. When times are going great, we keep our feet on the ground. We do that as a team, we’ve always done that.

“It’s a great place to come into every day and train. I love playing for the club, I love going out there every day with these lads under the staff.

“When you have that feeling, and I know I’m not the only one in there, when everyone’s got that feeling, you work hard and enjoy coming in, going out on a Saturday and representing the club and the fans. I feel very lucky to be a part of this group,” he added.

Elliot Lee will remain a key player for a while

Lee was a superstar for Wrexham last season, hitting 16 goals and five assists in 46 League Two appearances.

Lee won Wrexham’s Players’ Player of the Year award last season and has already scored four times in League Two.

The 29-year-old played a key role in Wrexham’s promotion and signed a new deal until 2027 in January.

This means Lee is likely to play a key role for Wrexham for a long time yet, with Parkinson well aware of the quality he provides in the final third.

Lee has been hailed as ‘magic’ by Jacob Mendy and whilst he is loving life at Wrexham, we can’t see him going anywhere any time soon.
