Wrexham are potentially just five games away from the Championship after beating Burton Albion 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Saturday was a huge day for Wrexham as the League One promotion race took a major turn.
Wrexham beat Burton Albion 3-0 at the STōK Cae Ras, scoring three second-half goals to secure a huge victory.
Elsewhere, Reading claimed a 1-0 victory over Wycombe Wanderers to hand Wrexham a six-point lead in the race for second place.
Wycombe’s game in hand comes against Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night, and anything less than victory for the Chairboys will leave Wrexham in a perfect position.
Wrexham must still get the job done in the coming weeks, but Saturday’s results have provided Phil Parkinson with a major step towards the Championship.

Eoghan O’Connell on Steven Fletcher
The man who opened the scoring for Wrexham against Wycombe Wanderers was Steven Fletcher as the Scot scored from the spot.
Sam Smith sparked Wrexham’s victory, but there was real pressure on Fletcher to score the penalty against a resolute 10-man Burton side.
Fletcher, who came on for the injured Jay Rodriguez in the first half, buried his penalty to put Wrexham ahead.
The veteran striker has been superb whenever called upon this season, especially coming on from the bench.
Parkinson feels Fletcher is ‘almost unplayable’ when coming off the bench, and we have seen him score so many late goals this season.
Defender Eoghan O’Connell has now moved to praise Fletcher whilst speaking to BBC Sport.
O’Connell branded Fletcher ‘incredible’, praising him for turning in great performances rather than just coming to Wrexham for one last payday.
O’Connell added that Fletcher is ‘so popular’ in the dressing room, claiming that everybody at Wrexham loves him.
“He’s incredible,” said O’Connell.
“His performances speak for themselves. It could have been easy for him to come here, getting to the end of his career, and just fob it off – but he’s just brilliant and a brilliant person.
“The influence he’s had on the whole team since he came here, the way he is off the pitch, he’s so popular in the dressing room, everyone loves him,” he added.
Steven Fletcher has a chance to stay at Wrexham
Some may have expected this to be Fletcher’s final season at Wrexham.
The 38-year-old signed a one-year extension with Wrexham last summer and, given his age, there was no guarantee of another deal.
Fletcher continues to show the quality which saw him become a Premier League striker earlier in his career, though, chipping in with big goals in Wrexham’s promotion push.
This gives Fletcher a great opportunity to land another contract at Wrexham and potentially return to the Championship.
Fletcher is ageing like a fine wine, and Wrexham are benefiting from his class and experience; long may that continue.
