Wrexham will learn the Championship fixture list on Thursday as Phil Parkinson prepares for life in the second tier.
If Wrexham’s third successive promotion hasn’t truly set in for anybody yet, Thursday will surely do the trick.
The Championship fixture list is released on Thursday, with Wrexham waiting to find out who they face on the opening day.
The days of waiting for National League schedules are long gone, with Wrexham now set for Championship action.
Wrexham have started at home in each of the last three seasons, and Phil Parkinson would surely love to kick the season off at the STōK Cae Ras once again.
Here are five fixtures to look out for as Wrexham gear up for battle in the Championship…

Birmingham City
Unsurprisingly, we start with Birmingham City.
The Blues won the League One title last season, and we saw something of a rivalry emerge with Wrexham in the process.
Rob McElhenney exchanged barbs with Tom Brady as the two clubs – both with North American ownership – embraced the competition at the top of League One, mostly in good spirit.
Now in the Championship together again, Wrexham would love a win over Birmingham, having taken one point from two games against the Blues last term.
Sky Sports certainly love the Wrexham v Birmingham games and we may see similar hype around the meetings between the two sides this coming season.
Coventry City
Wrexham fans will recall that a trip to Coventry City provided a first major sign of the ability to compete against EFL clubs.
Parkinson took his Wrexham side to face Coventry in the FA Cup back in January 2023, and produced a famous 4-3 victory.
Wrexham were still in the National League at the time but produced a brilliant performance to knock the Sky Blues out and produce a real cup upset.
Now joining Coventry in the Championship just two-and-a-half years later, Wrexham fans will be relishing another trip to the Coventry Building Society Arena in search of another victory.

Sheffield United
After beating Coventry City, Wrexham moved on to face Sheffield United in the next round, which became a little fractious.
Wrexham produced a rousing performance in a 3-3 draw at home, before losing 3-1 in a replay at Bramall Lane, sparking some mocking from Billy Sharp, as seen above.
The Blades beat Wrexham in the EFL Cup last season, but missed out on promotion to the Premier League.
That means Wrexham will lock horns with Sheffield United once again, and fans would love some revenge after cup defeats in recent years.
Preston North End
This one will mean a lot to Chorley-born Phil Parkinson and his family.
Parkinson’s parents were Preston North End season ticket holders before moving to Stockton-upon-Tees.
“Growing up, I can remember going to watch games with my dad, my brother and friends,” said Parkinson on ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ (Season 1, Episode 3).
“My mum and dad, actually, were Preston North End fans over in Lancashire. They were season ticket holders at Preston when they grew up,” he added.
Wrexham fans will also be looking forward to this one, with the trip to Deepdale one of the shorter journeys in the 2025-26 season.
PNE v Wrexham was a regular fixture in the 1970s, 80s and 90s, but it’s now more than 25 years since the two sides faced off – and Wrexham will certainly travel in force for the away game.
Swansea City
We so nearly had a situation where three Welsh clubs battled it out in the Championship.
Wrexham’s promotion set the stage, but Cardiff City were unable to avoid relegation to League One.
That leaves two Welsh clubs in the second tier, with Wrexham facing Swansea City in a battle for Welsh supremacy.
Luka Modric is now involved at Swansea, adding another level of intrigue as the Ballon d’Or winner faces off against Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.
Fans will be more focused on the pitch, and Wrexham will be looking for a first win over Swansea since a 4-0 thrashing in September 2002.
