Wrexham enjoyed a prolific 2024/25 season, but it was tough for one player, who had previously been key to the club’s success.
The Red Dragons etched their name into the EFL history books on April 26 when they beat Charlton Athletic 3-0.
No club has ever won three promotions in a row when starting in the National League or higher until Phil Parkinson’s team.
Wrexham made club history as well, earning their highest-ever points total when competing in the EFL.
However, a couple of players found game time hard to come by, one of whom has now opened up on his struggles.

George Evans on Wrexham struggles
Wrexham signed George Evans on a free transfer from Championship outfit Millwall back in 2023.
The midfielder made 27 league appearances in 2023/24 en route to the Dragons winning promotion from League Two.
But due to a combination of injury issues and competition for places, Evans only featured for 131 minutes in League One last term.
Now, as per Leader Live, the midfielder has opened up on a frustrating 12 months with Wrexham.
He said: “Last year was obviously frustrating for me.
“I picked the ankle injury up and [took] a bit of time coming back into it.
“But I have come back ready in pre-season and hopefully fighting for a chance, and getting a goal was a nice little bonus.”

George Evans impresses for Wrexham in pre-season
After so little game time in 2024/25, the 30-year-old has managed to regain some regular minutes during the 2025 pre-season tour of Australia.
Evans scored as Wrexham beat Melbourne Victory last week and was included in the squad versus Sydney on Tuesday.
On the win against Melbourne, he said: “It was a really good workout for us.
“They are the most successful team in Australia so we had tough opposition to go up to and we showed some good quality.
“It was a really good run-out for us and obviously delighted to get the 3-0 win as well.
“We showed things that got us promoted last year. The work ethic and the togetherness, for the full 90 minutes we worked on getting the ball back as quickly as possible and I think we have shown a really good team performance.”
