Wrexham beat Mansfield Town 2-1 on Sunday afternoon as Phil Parkinson welcomed a real boost to his promotion hopes.
Wrexham lost to Leyton Orient in midweek and simply had to hit back on Sunday afternoon.
Phil Parkinson took his side to Mansfield Town and Wrexham managed to get the job done with a 2-1 victory.
Max Cleworth’s goalscoring form continued with the winning goal, hammering home a low drive from the edge of the box.
Wrexham simply had to win after Wycombe Wanderers dropped points and Parkinson’s men duly obliged.
The gap to second place is back down to three points and Wrexham will hopefully put together another strong run of results from here.

George Dobson on Wrexham recruitment under Phil Parkinson
Wrexham really needed to show some resolve after that defeat to Orient and the trip to Mansfield was not easy.
The Stags have been in torrid form but conditions were tricky and Wrexham squandered some chances to kick on at 1-0.
Being pegged back by Mansfield meant Wrexham had to regroup and go again after the break, with Parkinson’s side ultimately taking full control.
Speaking to Wrexham’s official YouTube channel, midfielder George Dobson paid tribute to Parkinson’s recruitment having seen Wrexham dig in for the win at Mansfield.
Dobson joined Wrexham last summer, reuniting with Parkinson having previously worked together at Sunderland.
Dobson feels that Parkinson has put together a strong of ‘real good people’ and strong characters, highlighting how the Wrexham squad respond to adversity.
The Wrexham ace is looking forward to big games in the coming weeks, seemingly having full faith in this squad to get the business done.
“The gaffer has obviously recruited a group of real good people and when things go against us, we seem to react really well as a group,” said Parkinson.
“To win three games in a row away from home in this league is very tough, I’ve played in it a long time, I know how tough that is and yeah, it’s getting to the business end we know there’s so many massive games to come and we’ve just to keep going and hopefully we can keep putting the pressure,” he added.
Phil Parkinson’s strong hit rate at Wrexham
Dobson certainly has a point here with Parkinson’s transfer record at Wrexham particularly impressive.
Ben Tozer, James Jones, Aaron Hayden and Paul Mullin all had big roles to play at Wrexham after arriving in Parkinson’s first summer transfer window.
Sure, the likes of Liam McAlinden, Shaun Brisley and Harry Lennon didn’t make lasting impressions but this was the early stages of the Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds project.
Ollie Palmer and Thomas O’Connor arrived in January 2022 and remain in the Wrexham first-team picture whilst Elliot Lee, Mark Howard, Anthony Forde, Sam Dalby, Jacob Mendy and Andy Cannon were strong additions later in the year.
2023 brought Eoghan O’Connell, Ryan Barnett, James McClean, Steven Fletcher and George Evans arrive with all four still playing major roles at Wrexham.
Parkinson added the likes of Lewis Brunt, Sebastian Revan and Ollie Rathbone last summer before Wrexham signed Sam Smith in January 2025, shattering the club’s transfer record in the process.
Ryan Longman and Jay Rodriguez joined too with most of Parkinson’s signings at Wrexham making a lasting impact.
Dobson is just another successful addition and whilst Wrexham fans slammed Parkinson’s tactics last week, the recruitment under him has been consistently impressive.
