Wrexham have lifted the spirits of fans after the disappointing home defeat to Stevenage with the announcement of their second January signing.
Fans called for the Wrexham owners to sign a striker after the 3-2 defeat at the Racecourse Ground to Stevenage and it seems that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have listened once again.
Wrexham confirmed the signing of Ryan Longman from Hull City earlier this month and have now confirmed the signing of another top talent to assist with their promotion push.
Phil Parkinson had wanted reinforcements this month and it seems he has got his wish in a player that Reading manager Ruben Selles has called ‘exceptional’ when speaking to Reading Today.

Wrexham confirm the signing of Sam Smith from Reading
Wrexham have confirmed the signing of Sam Smith from Reading for an undisclosed fee, which is believed to be a club-record transfer.
Smith has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at the Racecourse Ground with the option of an additional year.
Smith has scored 11 goals already this season for Reading in his 25 league appearances and will bring a much-needed focal point to Wrexham’s attack.
Upon signing for the club, Smith has stated: “It was an unbelievable experience to play against the Club at the STōK Cae Ras and the atmosphere really stuck with me. I’m excited to be a part of the journey now and I want to try and help the Club achieve its ambitions.”
Phil Parkinson delighted with the signing of Smith
Parkinson has been desperate all window for an attacking signing following the struggle for goals for Ollie Palmer and Paul Mullin’s decline in form.
Parkinson has been speaking about his new signing and has stated: “Sam is a player we’ve been pursuing for a while. He’s a striker who’s done really well over the last few seasons and he’s at a great age. He’s a fantastic addition to the squad.”

It remains to be seen whether Smith can be a part of the matchday squad against Crawley Town and how Parkinson will use Smith in his plans.
One interesting factor will be whether Smith’s arrival forces a change in shape for Wrexham or at least a change in personnel up top.
