Wrexham will now switch focus towards the Championship after their midweek Carabao Cup triumph.

Wrexham saw off Reading in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.

They have now won two games in a row for the second time this season and will be looking to make it three on a spin when they welcome Derby County to the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham’s Championship promotion chances have increased in the last seven days after they beat Norwich City to climb up to 16th and within touching distance of the play-offs.

Derby, on the other hand, have won one and drawn two of their opening league fixtures this term.

Kayden Jackson rejected Wrexham contract offer

When Wrexham welcome the Rams to the Racecourse on Saturday, they are expected to be facing off with a former player.

Kayden Jackson joined Derby on a free transfer from Ipswich Town in 2024.

But earlier in his career, the attacker actually had a stint in North Wales.

Wrexham signed Jackson from Tamworth in 2015 for what Transfermarkt says is an undisclosed fee.

The Englishman made 36 appearances for the Red Dragons in all competitions, scoring four and assisting eight.

Jackson opted to leave the Racecourse Ground in May 2016, signing for Yorkshire outfit Barnsley.

It came after, as per the BBC, he decided to reject a new contract to remain at Wrexham.

Jackson has made 55 appearances, scored four and assisted two for the Rams.

Last time Wrexham played Derby County

As expected, given they were stuck in the National League for 15 years, Wrexham are playing a lot of teams for the first time in many years this season.

Derby are no exception, with their last clash taking place all the way back in 2007.

It was an FA Cup meeting and saw the Red Dragons fall to a 3-1 defeat at Pride Park.

Arturo Lupoli scored a hat-trick for Derby, while Lee McEvilly netted Wrexham’s only goal.
