Welcome To Wrexham is a box office hit, and soon there’ll be a new season of it hitting our screens.

Welcome To Wrexham has helped to make Wrexham into the globally-followed and adored club they now are.

Just several years ago they were languishing in the National League and few outside of Britain might have known they even existed.

But since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney completed their takeover in late 2020, the club has shot to stardom with Wrexham earning three-straight promotions and becoming known around the world.

Their success is down to a number of factors. But a large factor behind their global popularity is the Welcome To Wrexham documentary.

Season four of Welcome To Wrexham comes out later in May and fans are excited to see what happens in it, and how it goes down.

Phil Parkinson was reluctant to filming Welcome To Wrexham at first

Not everyone involved at the Racecourse was keen on the idea of Welcome To Wrexham at first, it has now been revealed by Community Director Humphrey Ker. He’s now revealed how Parkinson was ‘reluctant’ to the filming at first, until McElhenney persuaded him by explaining how it was the club’s documentary.

Ker said: “He was definitely reluctant, and I think a big thing was Rob persuading him like, ‘look, this is our documentary’. Sunderland ‘Til I Die for example is an independent documentary, independent at the club, so you’re only going to see what the public’s only going to see. What we want to show them to a certain extent.

“And that’s going to protect you from the worst vagaries of like, if something goes badly wrong you’re not going to get dragged through the mud or treated like garbage.”

Welcome to Wrexham season four release date and Ryan Reynolds’ teaser

Welcome To Wrexham’s release date has been confirmed as May 15th. It’s not long then until we can get another look inside the running of the club during what’s been another fairy-tale season.

And Reynolds says the new season of Welcome to Wrexham is mind-blowing, dropping a teaser online in April ahead of its May release.

Surely now, Parkinson has warmed to the idea, seeing how much exposure it gives to the club. And it’s all positive exposure too, because it’s the club’s documentary, like Ker explains.
