Wrexham are aiming to secure a third successive promotion under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Wrexham have had an excellent start to life in League One under manager Phil Parkinson.

The Red Dragons were held to a 2-2 draw against Charlton Athletic last time out, dropping them down to third in the League One table.

This has seen Wrexham fall a point behind second-place Wycombe Wanderers and four points off league leaders Birmingham City despite having played a game more than both teams.

However, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are still likely fairly content with how their side have performed in 2024/25 so far.

According to Opta, Wrexham have a low chance of winning automatic promotion in 2024/25 despite spending much of the campaign so far inside the top two.

Elsewhere, Reynolds and McElhenney have previously been told why Wrexham will not win the League One title this season over the aforementioned Birmingham City.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney told how likely Wrexham are to win promotion

Despite their side slipping out of the automatic promotion places last week, however, Reynolds and McElhenney should still be confident about their team’s chance of making it into the Championship next term.

The reason for that is simply based on history and how other sides have fared when trying to win League One promotion.

At present, Wrexham have earned 25 points from a possible 39 so far this season, giving them a total of 1.92 points per game.

At their current rate, Parkinson’s men will end the 2024/25 League One season with 88 points to their name.

Since the EFL was rebranded for the 2004/05 campaign, teams finishing as champions of League One have ended the season with an average of 94 points.

This means a first-place finish is currently unlikely for the Welsh side. However, sides who finished second in the table have had an average of 88 points – the exact same total Wrexham are on target to hit, suggesting yet another promotion is on the cards this term.

How Wrexham can win League One promotion this season

While they are currently expected to win promotion by finishing second, Parkinson knows his side can still improve right now.

Wrexham are yet to lose a home game in 2024/25 – one of the few sides across all of the EFL to achieve this feat.

But their record away from home is not great, with all of their defeats and draws coming on opposition soil.

Should Wrexham improve that record, however, they will surely be all but guaranteed a spot in next season’s Championship.
