Ryan Barrnet has been in sensation form for Wrexham during the 2024/25 League One season.

Ryan Barnett joined Wrexham from Solihull Moors in February 2023 and has now cemented himself as one of the club’s most important players.

His first full season at the Racecourse Ground saw Barnett notch 32 appearances in the league as the Red Dragons secured promotion to the third tier of English football.

The 25-year-old scored two and assisted four in said ties but he has taken his game to a new level in 2024/25.

Barnett was exceptional against Northampton Town prior to the October international break earlier this month.

And despite Phil Parkinson’s side being forced to settle for a point, the right-wing-back was a standout performer against Huddersfield Town last week.

Wrexham fans named Barnett as Man of the Match in the draw with the Yorkshire outfit, his third of the campaign already.

Wrexham gem Ryan Barnett rivaling Bukayo Saka

Perhaps the most impressive thing about Barnett this season, though, has been his goal contributions.

Against Huddersfield and in many other ties this term the Englishman has provided the bulk of Wrexham’s attacking threat despite operating as a right-wing-back.

He has a staggering five assists in 12 League One games already this term and is now, after Charlton Athletic, unsurprisingly, leading the EFL in one area.

As per Opta, no player has created more chances from open play than Wrexham’s Barnett (28) across the top four tiers of English football in 2024/25.

Even more staggeringly, the defender’s five assists can also only be bettered by Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka (7).

Wrexham ace Ryan Barnett transfer interest

While Barnett’s form is great for Wrexham right now in their League One promotion battle, it could be not so great come January.

Barnett has admirers in Stoke City and Preston North End, with the Championship duo recently credited with interest in the player.

Co-owner Rob McElhenney responded to transfer interest in Barnett last week, making his stance on the situation clear.

Elsewhere, EFL pundit Carlton Palmer called Barnett ‘exhilarating’ and predicted that Wrexham will not sell their star despite clubs in higher divisions looking at him.

However, with the Red Dragons potentially set to be still in League One come 2025/26 and Barnett now having around 18 months left on his current deal, there is a chance he may wish to take his career to the next level if Wrexham cannot secure a spot in the Championship next term.
