Wrexham striker Ollie Palmer was due to leave the club this summer before penning a new deal.

When 2024/25 came to a close, Wrexham had won promotion to the Championship and quickly set about making some big changes to their team.

Rob Mac was heartbroken after seeing one of his favourite players released in May.

He didn’t name who that was, but there were eight stars to choose from, including Steven Fletcher and Mark Howard.

Ollie Palmer was not one of those names, though he was initially set to leave the Racecourse Ground this year.

However, it was confirmed in October 2024 that Wrexham had offered Palmer a new contract.

The striker began the season as a regular feature under Phil Parkinson, initially partnering Jack Marriott up front in the majority of League One fixtures.

Palmer got an assist during the opening day win against Wycombe Wanderers before scoring twice in his following four league outings.

In turn, with his deal running out, Wrexham tied the striker down for another year, and details of the contract have now been made public this week.

Capology covers contract details of most teams around the world, but their Wrexham data was previously locked.

However, it’s now been made public and it reveals that Palmer, after his contract extension on October 15, 2024, is now taking home £6,000-a-week or £312,000-a-year.

Said sum has increased from 2023/24, with Capology reporting that the Englishman earned £260,000 across that campaign.

There is no reported release clause in Palmer’s latest contract.

Will Wrexham sell Ollie Palmer this summer

A few months after being offered a new deal, Palmer lost his place in the matchday squad.

He did not make a single League One appearance from January 28 after the arrivals of Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez.

Parkinson told Palmer to go out on loan late in the winter transfer window, but he decided to remain with the Dragons.

The number nine has featured heavily in pre-season, in part due to injuries to other strikers, and it remains to be seen if he will still be at the Racecourse on September 1.

At present, no clubs are actively being linked with a move for the Wrexham striker.
