Wrexham are gearing up to face Rotherham United this weekend and have now confirmed a piece of contract news.

The international break is coming to an end and Wrexham can now start turning the focus towards facing Rotherham United.

Millers boss Steve Evans keeps calling Wrexham ‘the Harlem Globetrotters’ but Phil Parkinson won’t be too interested in that comparison.

Wrexham are tough and hard to beat, a far cry from the flashy Globetrotters.

Nobody sums that up quite like Ollie Palmer, an enormous striker who works incredibly hard in the final third and is a real nuisance for defenders.

Palmer is almost a throwback in terms of his style as a striker and he will be making an impact in a Wrexham shirt for a while yet.

Phil Parkinson reacts to Ollie Palmer deal

Wrexham have now confirmed that Palmer has signed a new contract at the STōK Cae Ras.

Fresh from the news that Ryan Barnett is staying at the club, Wrexham have announced more positive contract news.

Wrexham’s official site confirms that Palmer has signed a new deal with the club until the summer of 2026.

Palmer was set to become a free agent at the end of the season but Wrexham have made sure to hand him a new deal.

With the striker now signed up until the end of next season, Phil Parkinson has offered his view on Palmer.

Speaking on Wrexham’s official site, Parkinson noted that Palmer has ‘earned’ his new deal with a ‘good start’ to the season.

Parkinson added that Palmer has been pivotal in the club’s rise and is looking forward to working with him for a little while longer.

“I’m pleased for Ollie to get his new deal, he’s earned it. He’s had a good start to the season,” said Parkinson.

“He’s played a key role in the Club’s success and we’re looking forward to continuing to work with him,” he added.

More striker decisions to come

Palmer turns 33 in January but Wrexham have shown faith in him to keep producing the goods.

This is just the first in a number of striking decisions Wrexham need to make in the coming months.

Jack Marriott has started the season brilliantly alongside Palmer and is also out of contract at the end of the season.

The same goes for veteran hitman Steven Fletcher, who turns 38 in March.

Paul Mullin is still searching for form in League One and recent signing Modou Faal is one for the future.

Wrexham now have Palmer, Mullin and Faal under contract for next season but must still make decisions on Marriott and Fletcher as the club aim for the Championship.
