How Wrexham squad value now compares to every Championship team after surprise increase

Wrexham spent heavily over the summer, and their squad value has continued to increase after the close of the transfer window.

Wrexham paid out £33m in the 2025 summer transfer window to add 13 players to their Championship squad.

Nathan Broadhead became the new record signing after Liberato Cacace surpassed Sam Smith’s record earlier in the window.

It was a record summer for the Dragons on every front, but their league position is yet to really reflect their expenditure.

Wrexham have played nine matches and so far picked up two wins, leaving them 18th going into the break.

Wrexham squad value vs every Championship team

As expected, despite their big spending, Wrexham are no longer one of the top teams in the division when it comes to squad value.

They are competing against recently-relegated Premier League teams and well-established second-tier sides who have been able to build a well-rounded side over many years.

To the surprise of nobody, the three relegated clubs currently have the most valuable sides in the Championship, with Ipswich Town closest to breaking the £200m barrier.

As for Wrexham, they are 13th in the table with a value of €58.73m (around £51m).

What is somewhat surprising, however, is that the Dragons’ squad value has received a €400,000 increase since September 15.

Wrexham squad value could increase in 2025/26

While their squad value has already increased this season, it could well change later in the campaign as well.

Wrexham have money to spend in January, with a figure of around £10m available before there are even any slight concerns about breaching PSR.

While we are only two months into the campaign, there are a couple of positions that could be improved upon.

Another big man striker to cover for Kieffer Moore would be an ideal signing.

Similarly, given how important wing-backs are to Wrexham’s system, a pacey, powerful defender with Championship experience who can rival Issa Kabore and Liberato Cacace should be looked at.
