The prospect of Paul Mullin joining Wigan Athletic permanently has been mooted this week.
The 110-goal Wrexham striker joined the Latics over the summer and is expected to spend 2025/26 on loan in the North West of England.
Paul Mullin can be recalled by the Red Dragons, who are still paying half of his wages, during the January transfer window.
Meanwhile, there is no option for Wigan to make the attacker’s signing permanent at the end of the campaign.
However, Wigan fans have been discussing their club completing a permanent transfer for Mullin in the January window.
While there have been no reports that could happen, Wrexham could recall the player in January to sanction a permanent deal if they wished.

Paul Mullin
Should a permanent sale take place in January, it would be good news for Mullin.
The 30-year-old is under contract at the Racecourse Ground until the summer of 2027.
It means that, at present, the striker will once again likely have to look for a new club next year.
Phil Parkinson has made it clear that Mullin isn’t in his long-term plans, with Wrexham going on to sign another two strikers in the latest window, months after bringing in Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez to replace Mullin and Ollie Palmer.
A quick resolution to his future in January would be an ideal situation for the Liverpool-born ace, especially if it is a move to Wigan, which would mean he stays close to his family in the North West of England.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac
Since Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac became owners, the Welsh outfit have not been great at selling players for profit.
They have not had to be thus far, as their strategy has simply been to do whatever it takes to keep winning promotion.
However, Wrexham are likely to remain in the Championship for a couple of seasons now, and that means their revenue will eventually stop increasing at the rate it has been in previous years.
But their wage bill and transfer outlay has grown exponentially. They are in no danger of breaching PSR anytime soon, but there will come a time, especially if they get stuck in the second tier, that the club will need to start selling players for profit – rather than paying them off and terminating contracts like they did with Ollie Palmer and George Evans this summer.

Wigan Athletic
Should Mullin stay beyond this season, it would be a big boost for Wigan.
Despite struggling last term at Wrexham, the number nine has begun to rediscover his top form this season.
He’s already matched his goal tally from 2024/25 in 10 games and is showing that, even in a team who are not in great form as a group, he can score goals in League One.
Loser from Wrexham selling Paul Mullin to Wigan
Wrexham fans
The only real loser from a sale would be the Wrexham faithful.
Mullin is a club legend, but the way his career in North Wales ended wasn’t great.
He was axed from the League One squad after January 28 and, for whatever reason, didn’t even make the team on the final day of the campaign against Lincoln City, despite promotion already being secured.
Mullin deserved a proper send-off in front of the Wrexham fans, but he would not get that with a January move.
