Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s stance on winning promotion to the Premier League has been clear for some time now.
When the North American actors took over at the Racecourse Ground, they stated that they wanted to take Wrexham to the Premier League.
Ryan Reynolds was mocked by the media for his comments at the time, but the Dragons are now just one promotion away from reaching the top-flight.
Over the summer, it emerged that Reynolds and Mac want Wrexham to win Premier League promotion by 2027.
That gives Phil Parkinson and his players just two seasons to get the job done. However, as shown by one transfer link this week, the level of players in the Championship is so much higher than anything the Welsh outfit have faced in the last four seasons.

Southampton and Leicester City eye James Trafford
It has been reported this week that Southampton and Leicester City are looking at a January loan move for Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford.
Trafford spent 2024/25 in the Championship and helped Burnley win promotion while boasting the best defensive record in the division.
His return to the second tier would surely boost any side’s chances of going up, and there has been concern expressed that other teams will not be able to compete against these types of transfers long-term.
One fan wrote: “How are we supposed to compete with this long term hahahah.”
Another suggested a Premier League team should be looking at him: “Surely a Prem team will want a keeper in January? Could even go to Chelsea if they’re enough points behind City at that point.”
A West Ham United fan told their club to sign him instead: “@WestHam we should wake up and bring him in on loan if Areola heads off.”
“Well if true, he’s got to be better than Bazunu,” wrote a Southampton fan.
A fifth responded to the link by writing: “Poor at City but was quality last season.”

Which goalkeeper should start for Wrexham vs Derby County
Wrexham face Derby County on Saturday, and Phil Parkinson has something of a selection dilemma between the sticks.
Danny Ward is out long-term, while Arthur Okonkwo has made a few notable mistakes since coming back into the team in the Championship.
Meanwhile, Callum Burton shone for Wrexham against Reading earlier this week, being named in the Carabao Cup Team of the Round.
Burton started the 2025/26 season as the third-choice option, but his midweek outing may have convinced Parkinson that he could now do a job in the second tier
