As Wrexham face off against Derby County at the Racecourse Ground, Phil Parkinson could be in line to make an incredibly harsh decision regarding one in-form Red Dragons attacker.

Wrexham host Derby County this weekend, where the Red Dragons will hope to notch a third successive win in all competitions.

Last time out in the Championship saw Wrexham dismantle Norwich City with a brilliant second-half performance. The Canaries led at the interval 1-0, but three quick-fire goals for Wrexham brought the scores to 3-1 before a late consolation goal for Norwich City.

Wrexham are predicted to topple Derby County at the Racecourse Ground, which would see a first home Championship win of the campaign.

Ahead of the Championship clash, Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has a huge task to decide his side for the clash, with one controversial omission likely.

Wrexham injury and team news

A number of long-term injury doubts still loom for Wrexham ahead of this weekend against Derby County.

Both Andy Cannon and Jay Rodriguez are still out of action, although Ollie Rathbone is on his way back to fitness. Phil Parkinson opted against using him in any form against Reading in the EFL Cup, but could be sniffing for a return to the side this weekend.

Aaron James will undergo surgery on a knee injury, while Harry Ashfield will miss out with an ankle problem, as Wrexham are left without two homegrown talents.

Danny Ward also continues his absence for the foreseeable future.

As the Wrexham injury picture appears to look healthier, here is how Parkinson could line his side up this weekend…

Wrexham predicted XI against Derby County

With Danny Ward continuing his time out of the side due to injury, Arthur Okonkwo will take over from Callum Burton, who started in the EFL Cup fourth round against Reading.

An identical back-three from the win against Norwich City, consisting of  Callum Doyle, Dom Hyam, and Max Cleworth is likely to be deployed, leaving Conor Coady on the bench once again.

As for the wide options, Ryan Longman and Issa Kabore shone last time out in the Championship, so will likely stay in the side.

A midfield three of Ben Sheaf, George Dobson, and Lewis O’Brien is set to be used.

When it comes to the Wrexham attack, many will wonder if Nathan Broadhead’s midweek performance against Reading, which saw the Welsh international bag two goals, could be enough to command a place in the side.

Phil Parkinson labelled Broadhead as ‘dangerous’ following the cup win, but after the respective top performances delivered by both Josh Windass and Kieffer Moore, it is unlikely that either of those could be dropped.
