Wrexham fans are waiting for the arrival of Josh Windass, but a new women’s team manager has now been announced.
Tuesday was a tough day for all connected with Wrexham, as club legend Joey Jones sadly passed away at the age of 70.
Tributes have poured in for Jones, and Wrexham may have delayed a couple of announcements out of respect for the former defender and his family.
One would be a signing, with Josh Windass joining Wrexham on a three-year contract after passing a medical.
The other may have been a new appointment, with Jenny Sugarman now confirmed as the new manager of Wrexham AFC Women.

Jenny Sugarman profiled as Wrexham arrival confirmed
Wrexham Women have been featured prominently on ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, allowing the likes of Rosie Hughes and Lili Jones to become stars.
This rise under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds isn’t just about the men, with a firm focus placed on building up the women’s team as well.
Manager Steve Dale resigned in May, and Wrexham have been looking for a new boss to lead the women’s team in the Adran Premier.
Jenny Sugarman is now on board and brings an impressive CV with her.
Sugarman has most recently been the head coach of Leicester City Women’s academy, having previously coached West Bromwich Albion Women.
Sugarman spent two years in charge of the Baggies before leaving in 2023, taking on the role at Leicester City immediately after her exit.
Before her spell with West Brom, Sugarman worked as the assistant manager of Aston Villa Women, earning valuable experience at a high level.
Sugarman has previously spoken on The Coaches’ Voice, highlighting her appreciation for a 3-4-3 formation, inspired by Antonio Conte’s Chelsea.
Now arriving at Wrexham, Sugarman has told the club’s official website that she feels ‘really aligned’ with the club’s values and ambitions, admitting that she can’t wait to start work.
“I’m incredibly proud to be joining this historic club. I feel like our values and ambitions are really aligned. I can’t wait to get started and contribute to what we’re building both on and off the pitch,” said Sugarman.
Michael Williamson on Jenny Sugarman to Wrexham
Wrexham CEO Michael Williamson has offered his comments on the move, praising Sugarman for a ‘comprehensive and impressive’ CV.
Williamson claims that Wrexham had ‘very high calibre’ candidates applying for the job following Dale’s exit, but Sugarman was the top choice.
“We are pleased to be welcoming a coach with such a comprehensive and impressive CV as Jenny’s to the Football Club,” said Williamson.
“There were a number of very high calibre candidates interested in the role, but Jenny’s experience across all levels of the women’s game stood out for us, as we look to write the next chapter for the women’s team.
“On behalf of everyone at Wrexham AFC, I would like to welcome Jenny to the Club and wish her all the very best as she takes up her role of Wrexham AFC Women & Girls Head Coach,” he added.
Wrexham will hope for more progress under Sugarman in the months and years to come, building on some promising signs in recent times.
