Nathan Broadhead shares honest season ambition with Wrexham after his Wales performance

Nathan Broadhead has not had the best of starts to his time at his boyhood club after signing for Wrexham from Ipswich Town this summer.

The Wales international has seen his minutes under Phil Parkinson limited so far this campaign due to his start at the club being interrupted by injury.

However, he was one of the two Wrexham stars called up by Craig Bellamy for Wales for the latest international break due to the manager trusting in his ability to perform on a big occasion.

Broadhead has demonstrated his ability in flashes at Wrexham so far this campaign, as he has scored on a couple of occasions, with his latest being in the 1-1 draw against Leicester City. Now he is determined to push on after recovering from his most recent injury.

The former Ipswich Town player has scored twice for the Red Dragons during an injury-disrupted start to his season, with one coming in the EFL Cup and the other in the Championship.

Broadhead became Wrexham’s most expensive signing ever this summer when he signed for £10 million but has not been able to start paying that fee off due to not being fit; now he will battle for a place in the team to make it a memorable campaign for fans, as he explained to the BBC.

He said: “I love scoring goals, and hopefully I can get many more for Wrexham.

“I can’t wait, really, for the season to get going for myself.

“It’s taken a while. I had the injury, but I’m enjoying it, and I think we can do well this season.”

Nathan Broadhead will take confidence from his time with Wales

The Wrexham attacker scored in the Welsh 4-2 defeat to Belgium in their World Cup qualifier during the last international window, which will have been disappointing; however, he will take personal confidence from his performance.

Broadhead came off the bench to have an important role in getting Bellamy’s side back into the game late on, and he believes this will put him in good stead for his club career before he once again switches focus to attempt to get Wales to the World Cup.

He said: “I’m delighted I did that.

“I always believe I can score goals at any level.

“But we’re disappointed, and hopefully the results go our way next month.

“Both games are must-win, and the fans will support us. Hopefully we can get the six points.”
