Paul Mullin has completed his loan move to Wigan Athletic as the striker says goodbye to Wrexham after a frustrating season.
Season four of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ was always going to be fascinating viewing.
Phil Parkinson guided Wrexham to another promotion, and another successful campaign was caught on camera once more.
Many fans were focused on Paul Mullin, though, as the striker not only struggled for starts but often didn’t even make the bench for Wrexham in the second half of the season.
Mullin didn’t feature at all in League One following the end of the transfer window, and the Wrexham striker opened up on his exile during ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.
Mullin has now signed for Wigan Athletic, penning a loan deal with Ryan Lowe’s side for the 2025-26 season.

Paul Mullin on James McClean’s message over Wigan Athletic move
Lowe is excited to have signed Mullin, believing that he can make a big impact for the Latics this coming season.
This is a tough one to take for many Wrexham fans, with Mullin nothing short of a legend for his impact over the last four years.
Mullin leaving after months without a first-team appearance stings, but Wrexham fans will be cheering him on from afar at Wigan.
Mullin wants to get back on track and heads to Wigan with the backing of a former Latics favourite in James McClean.
Wrexham captain McClean joined Wigan in 2013, spending two years at the club before returning in 2021.
The 36-year-old knows Wigan better than most and offered Mullin some helpful words as the striker made his move.
Speaking to Wigan’s official YouTube channel, Mullin admitted speaking to McClean about Wigan, even though he had already agreed to join the Latics.
McClean offered nothing but praise for Wigan, believing that they will be a great fit for Mullin as he begins the next chapter of his career.
“Not to convince me, no, it was already done, but obviously I did speak to James beforehand,” said Mullin.
“He was basically just telling me how good the club is and how much I’ll love it, and that it will be a good fit for me.
“Obviously, I’d already agreed to it, but when he said that, it made me just that little bit more at ease and even more excited to start,” he added.
James McClean enjoyed fruitful spells with Wigan Athletic
If anybody can talk up life at Wigan, it’s McClean.
Irish international McClean racked up 171 appearances for Wigan across his two spells, notching 23 goals and 27 assists.
Those appearances, goals, and assist tallies are the highest of McClean’s career with any one club.
It’s therefore no surprise that McClean heaped praise on Wigan and backed Mullin to shine there, two years since McClean left Wigan for Wrexham.
Mullin was a fan favourite from minute one at Wrexham, and if he can replicate even a fraction of his Wrexham exploits, this move will be a real success.
