Wrexham star, Paul Mullin has opened up about the inspiration that he has taken from Premier League side, Luton Town.

Paul Mullin joined Wrexham in 2021 and has played his role as the club secured a place in League Two.

This season under Phil Parkinson has been superb as the Reds have shown themselves to be true promotion candidates.

With the form that has been shown this season, there is a real possibility of back-to-back division jumps at The Racecourse.

This has been done many times in the past. After 10 wins in 20 matches this campaign, there is hope growing for the Reds that they can.

With all that being said, there is inspiration to be taken from a current Premier League outfit.

What has Paul Mullin said about Luton Town?

Luton Town were in the National League as recently as 2009. They now find themselves fighting for safety amongst the elite.

The Hatters currently sit in 17th place, outside the relegation spots. This follows two wins and three draws so far this campaign.

Speaking with TalkSport, Wrexham’s Mullin has opened up on the hope that these kinds of teams give the right now.

On that, he said: “What gives you inspiration is seeing the lads on the pitch last night [in a 4-3 defeat to Arsenal]. We’ve played against them a few times through the leagues and seeing them do it means that it is possible.”

It shows that the possibility is there to improve and quickly rise up the leagues and eventually find yourself in the top division. This is ultimately the goal of every team and will be no easy task for anyone to accomplish.

With that being said, Mullin isn’t looking too far ahead of himself. On that, he added: “We’re taking it one step at a time. We’re aiming to get out of League Two as quickly as possible and who knows it could be this year if we’re successful.

“It’s going to take a lot of hard work but from there the sky’s the limit with these owners. They’re magnificent and have given us every chance to make it work and be successful.”

It is safe to say that Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ ambition is to get Wrexham to the Premier League. In saying that, the players right now are taking each game as it comes and will be measured in their success.

Luton Town are a great benchmark and someone to look at to inspiration and hopefully, it spurs on the Reds moving forward.
