Wrexham picked up a fourth straight win on Saturday afternoon but there is no rest for Phil Parkinson and co right now.

January is always a hectic month as managers juggle league and cup action alongside the winter transfer window.

Wrexham and Phil Parkinson haven’t had much chance for respite though as February presents a jam-packed schedule.

Saturday’s 2-0 win at Northampton Town was Wrexham’s fourth game of the month – all of which have been victories.

Wrexham are back in action once again on Tuesday night though as Leyton Orient visit the STōK Cae Ras.

The business end of the season is now approaching and Wrexham will be looking to move another step closer to promotion with victory.

Phil Parkinson comments on Wrexham preparation

The Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday schedule is nothing new for this Wrexham side after securing two straight promotions.

Even after facing Leyton Orient, Wrexham have no real rest.

It’s straight into Saturday’s clash against Mansfield Town before hosting Peterborough United next Wednesday.

In fact, Wrexham now don’t have a midweek off until after facing Wycombe Wanderers on March 15.

The fixture list is testing for Wrexham right now but boss Parkinson is absolutely relishing the challenge.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Parkinson admitted that he feels Wrexham are ‘prepared’ for the games ahead.

Parkinson noted that he has a ‘strong squad’ at his disposal and his players will be used to their ‘absolute maximum’ with so many games coming up.

“It’s so important and that’s what it’s all about,” said Parkinson.

“This squad’s going to be utilised to its absolute maximum but that’s what we’ve built a strong squad for.

“We’re looking forward for this run of games and I feel we’ve prepared for it,” he added.

Changes surely on the horizon for Wrexham

Parkinson is right to highlight his strong squad and this run is the prime time to use it.

Paul Mullin wasn’t even selected against Northampton, which goes to show the riches at Parkinson’s disposal.

Mullin will surely receive chances to shine in the coming weeks and Parkinson will have to keep players fresh with regular changes.

Ollie Palmer chose to stay at Wrexham despite late transfer window interest and will be hoping for a return to the starting XI at some point in the next month.

January signing Ryan Longman will be able to slot in for Ryan Barnett at right wing back whilst the likes of George Evans and Andy Cannon will be given opportunities in midfield.

Arthur Okonkwo has been taken out of the XI in league games but will be looking to use cup performances to win his place back.

The next month will be huge for Wrexham both in League One and the EFL Trophy, with Parkinson hoping to prove that the money Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have spent on building this squad has ultimately been justified.
