Wrexham manager, Phil Parkinson has confirmed that Jordan Tunnicliffe and Tom O’Connor have sustained injuries prior to the Morecambe.

Last time out, Wrexham suffered their first defeat since September, as they fell to a 2-0 loss against Accrington Stanley.

With that being said, it has been an overly positive season for Phil Parkinson’s side with them sitting in the play-off spots.

It must be said that this has been in spite of plenty of injury troubles, but success has come thanks to the high-quality squad depth.

Starman Paul Mullin has been the most notable injury, suffering a punctured lung against Manchester United.

Now it seems that there are fresh injury concerns for Parkinson to contend with.

What has Phil Parkinson said about Jordan Tunnicliffe?

Jordan Tunnicliffe hasn’t featured for the Reds since coming on against Gillingham earlier in the month. With that being said, the defender is set to be out for a sustained period.

Speaking with Leader Live, Parkinson has discussed the 30-year old and the injury that he is suffering from.

Opening up about him, the manager said: “Jordan is struggling, unfortunately. We feel his problem with his hamstring is coming from his back so Jordan is going to be out for a period of time.

Exactly what that is I am not sure yet. It really is tough for Jordan but unfortunately, we can’t do anything about it. We have just got to try and get him back fit and once he is back fit this time.”

It is safe to say that it could be a lengthy spell on the sidelines for Tunnicliffe which is frustrating for the Reds. This season he has featured in just 195 minutes but provides squad depth which benefits the squad massively.

What has been said about Tom O’Connor?

Tom O’Connor has become a key feature in the back three for Parkinson’s side this season. In prior years he has been a midfield stalwart but he has become an impressive centre-back nowadays.

Against Accrington Stanley, the Englishman came off at halftime much to the concern of the Reds faithful.

On the versatile defender, Parkinson said: “Tom has got a slight tightness in his groin and didn’t feel himself. Sometimes when you have that awareness of something in a game, it can be on your mind and it probably affected him a little bit.

“He didn’t have his best start in a game but the substitution was purely because of his injury. He has been outstanding for us so we will just assess him as the week goes on but we have got good players to come in if he’s not right.”

It appears that Wrexham will be without O’Connor and Tunnicliffe for the upcoming games with Morecombe and Harrogate Town.
