Wrexham took a major step towards a third straight promotion by beating Blackpool 2-1 on Monday afternoon.
Wrexham drew 1-1 with Bristol Rovers on Friday, leaving fans tasting disappointment over the weekend.
Wycombe Wanderers took Wrexham’s place in second spot, beating Bolton Wanderers to swing the promotion race in their favour.
Just a few days later, the momentum is back with Wrexham after more twists and turns on Monday.
Wrexham beat Blackpool 2-1 away from home, with James McClean and Ollie Rathbone on the scoresheet.
Wycombe were hammered 4-0 by Charlton Athletic, meaning they now drop two points behind Wrexham with two games to play.

Phil Parkinson message to Wrexham fans ahead of Charlton Athletic clash
Wrexham have now seized the initiative, but face a very difficult game this weekend.
Charlton Athletic visit the STōK Cae Ras on Saturday evening, fresh off hammering Wycombe.
The Addicks aren’t out of automatic promotion contention themselves, but need everything to go their way in the final two weeks.
A slip-up from Wycombe at Leyton Orient on Saturday afternoon would leave Wrexham on the brink of promotion ahead of facing Charlton.
This promises to be a huge clash and Rob McElhenney has sent a rallying cry to Wrexham fans ahead of Charlton’s visit.
Phil Parkinson has now followed suit, telling BBC Sport that he wants the STōK Cae Ras absolutely ‘bouncing’ this weekend.
Parkinson feels Wrexham have seen off ‘a lot of clubs’ in League One this season, but now need to do it again as Charlton roll into town.
Parkinson wants a packed house at the STōK Cae Ras, believing the fans can really help Wrexham get over the line.
“It’s brilliant – the support was good today,” said Parkinson after beating Blackpool.
“I want more of the same next week from the supporters at home. I’ve got to be honest with you, I want that place bouncing – these lads deserve it.
“We’ve come a long, long way this season. We’ve shaken off a lot of big clubs in this division. We need everybody in the ground to create an atmosphere and get the Racecourse bouncing to help the team as much as we can,” he added.
Phil Parkinson’s record at Charlton Athletic
Monday’s trip to Blackpool saw Parkinson face a club he snubbed in 2013, during his time at Bradford City.
The situation is a little different this weekend, as Parkinson faces a side he managed for more than two years.
Parkinson joined Charlton in January 2007, becoming the assistant manager to Alan Pardew, having worked together at Reading.
Parkinson took over as interim boss in November 2008, landing the job permanently just a month later.
Charlton were relegated at the end of the 2008-09 season, but the Addicks kept the faith in Parkinson.
Parkinson guided Charlton the League One play-offs, but suffered defeat to Swindon Town – and was then sacked midway though the 2010-11 season.
In total, Parkinson managed 114 games at Charlton, claiming 44 wins, 37 draws and 33 defeats.
Parkinson was sacked despite sitting fifth in the League One table at the time of his departure, and he would surely love a slice of revenge by taking Wrexham up against Charlton this weekend.
