Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has lauded Steven Fletcher’s class following the new signing bagging two last-gasp goals in recent weeks.
Wrexham snatched a thrilling victory against Salford at the weekend, coming from 2-0 behind to clinch a dramatic 3-2 win.
Reds battle back for vital three points
The Reds found themselves 2-0 down inside the first 36 minutes, but Elliot Lee pulled a goal back in the first half after heading in a corner.
Manager Phil Parkinson’s second half changes then paid huge dividends as two of his subs got on the scoresheet to secure all three points. Steven Fletcher popped up in the 88th minute with an equalizer before Jordan Davies fired the winner in 54 seconds later.

Steven Fletcher has scored two crucial late goals in recent weeks
36-year-old Steven Fletcher only joined the club this summer but has already popped up with two massive goals.
The Scottish international signed on a free transfer after his release from Dundee United. He has over 700 career appearances across spells including in the top flights of England, Scotland and France, and 39 caps for Scotland.
His 88th minute goal against Salford comes just weeks after he grabbed a last-gasp equaliser to rescue 10-man Wrexham a point in a 3-3 thriller against Crewe Alexandra.
Phil Parkinson hails ‘class’ new signing Steven Fletcher
Those two goals have helped propel Wrexham up the League Two table and could be pivotal come the end of the season.
Speaking to reporters after the Salford game, Parkinson hailed Fletcher’s quality: “He’s a class player, he’s come in, obviously missed pre-season and then he’s had a problem with his knee, had some fluid drained off. So he’s not trained as much as he would have liked in the last 10 days or so, but look he’s an absolute class player and he’s shown that today.”
The Reds are now fifth in League Two with 23 points, just three points behind league-leaders Stockport.
