Wrexham may be just days away from becoming a Championship club as Phil Parkinson chases a third straight promotion.
Wrexham beat Blackpool 2-1 on Monday afternoon to take a huge step towards the Championship.
Wycombe Wanderers lost to Charlton Athletic, handing Wrexham second place and a two-point advantage.
Wrexham must now take on the Addicks this weekend, which certainly won’t be an easy game.
Wycombe dropping points against Leyton Orient this weekend would leave Wrexham just a victory away from the second tier.
This could be a huge weekend for Wrexham, but Phil Parkinson will be looking to keep his side calm and composed as Charlton visit.

Humphrey Ker on Wrexham’s great start
A long season is now coming to its end and, hopefully, this Saturday’s clash with Charlton will be the final home game of the season for Wrexham.
Wrexham’s pitch improvements will start when the season ends, and fans will be hoping for automatic promotion over the nerve-shredding experience of the play-offs.
The ever-brilliant Humphrey Ker has now spoken to Men In Blazers, and was asked about the moment he thought Wrexham could seriously challenge for promotion this season.
Ker noted that he and others at Wrexham actually warned Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds about the first five games of the season.
Wycombe Wanderers, Bolton Wanderers, Reading, Peterborough United and Shrewsbury Town presented a tough start for Wrexham.
McElhenney and Reynolds were warned that results could be a little up and down, but Parkinson dropped just two points in that run, leaving Ker to believe something special could be on the cards.
Wrexham’s 1-0 win at Huddersfield Town was also a key moment for Ker, as Steven Fletcher’s goal scored a big away win in March.
“I would say that one of the first instances was after five games because in the summer, we said to Rob and Ryan ‘hey, just so you’re aware, those first five games are really tough, we’re playing a lot of really good, tough, big teams, difficult away games, it’s going to be really tough’.
“After those five games, we were top of the league and were like… ‘oh, interesting. Okay, that’s alright but maybe that’s just people getting used to us, people working us out’.
“But you think about some of the games, Huddersfield away was a big one for me, because that’s a team that’s just come down from the Championship, we went there and won 1-0,” he added.

Humphrey Ker on Phil Parkinson’s prediction
Ker added that Wrexham’s upturn in away form in 2025 has been a key factor in this promotion push.
Wrexham added Jay Rodriguez, Sam Smith and Ryan Longman in the January transfer window, with Ker believing that their arrivals ‘changed the dynamic’ on the road.
Ker added that boss Parkinson actually predicted a play-off push for Wrexham this season, believing that a top-six finish was a realistic target.
Parkinson has far exceeded that goal, with Wrexham now potentially just two games away from another automatic promotion.
“Really, one of the stories of our season has been the transformation of the away form since January. Before January, we really, really struggled away from home, at home we were very good.
“The acquisition of Jay Rodriguez, Sam Smith and Ryan Longman totally changed the dynamic away from home.
“In the run-up to January, we had the discussion of ‘right, if we spent a bit of money here in January and really go for it and roll the dice, we really think we can go up again this season’.
“Phil, before the season, was like ‘I think we can get in the play-offs. If we get it right, I think we have a real go and we can get in the play-offs and sort of roll the dice and see what happens.
“And then wily, old coot has had us in second or third for most of the season, and first for a chunk of it as well,” he added.
Nathan Jones may be expecting a ‘circus’ at Wrexham this weekend, but this has been a well-oiled machine for most of the season.
There have been ups and downs along the way, but Parkinson deserves so much credit for having Wrexham in this position once again – and he will hope to have something to celebrate come Saturday night.
