Wrexham are currently on a four-game unbeaten run in the Championship after their latest draw with Birmingham City.

This recent run of form will demonstrate to fans that they deserve to be competing at this level and that they are ready to battle to become regulars in the second division.

Phil Parkinson will hope that they does not get dragged into a relegation battle this season, as this can sometimes lead to uncertainty with safety not guaranteed.

While the performance of Wrexham’s players against Birmingham was impressive and they will feel they deserved more from the fixture, the manager of the Welsh club has a new demand for his squad to improve their standing in the division.

Phil Parkinson demands Wrexham turn draws into wins

Phil Parkinson is confident his squad will be able to turn draws into wins, with three of the results in their unbeaten run of four being stalemates.

Now he has set a target for his players to manage to secure victories and not draw games, particularly after a worrying Wrexham stat emerged after the game with the Blues.

Speaking to The Leader, he said: “We’ve put in some really good performances over this last period of time, and we didn’t turn the draws into wins.

“But there’s a lot of teams in the Championship saying that because it’s a hard league and a lot of games are really tight.

“It is across the board, and it’s nip and tuck in every game.

“We’ve gone to Leicester (and drawn 1-1) and could have won the game, but we’re very confident in the group we’ve got, and we’re going to start turning these draws into wins.”

Tactical change has been pivotal for Wrexham

Following the defeat to QPR in the Championship and the poor start to the campaign, Phil Parkinson opted to change the formation to make the Wrexham defence stronger.

This has also seen Dominic Hyam thrive at the heart of Wrexham, with the defender proving to be an important addition to the squad and one that has allowed them to go on this unbeaten run.

Parkinson said: “The structure is stronger, and the lads have bought into the change in system, so there’s lots of good points.

“Obviously, there’s always an element of disappointment when you’re 1-0 up and we get punished for one moment.

“But all in all, we’re going into an international break with a squad which is growing together.”
