Wrexham are set to be without a competitive fixture for two weeks due to the international break, with their next match coming against Stoke City on October 18.

Craig Bellamy has selected two Wrexham players for Wales in the shape of Kieffer Moore and Nathan Broadhead.

Meanwhile, Dominic Hyam missed out on selection for Scotland for their upcoming World Cup qualifying fixtures.

Phil Parkinson may see this as a blessing in disguise, as it means that it is less likely that the defender will get injured, and it will allow him to exercise his plan better for the development of his squad over the next two weeks without a Championship or EFL Cup match.

Phil Parkinson will look to utilise internal games to get players fit

Phil Parkinson was disappointed after the Birmingham City result, as Wrexham failed to secure their first home win of the Championship campaign.

However, the result continued their unbeaten run in the division, taking it to four matches in a row without defeat, and he will look to build upon that against Stoke City but will hope to have players fit and raring to go, as he explained to the BBC.

He said: “We’ve got to look at these two weeks and have some 11 v 11 game time for Ollie Rathbone, George Thomason and get Libby [Liberato Cacace] as close as we can.

“A few of the boys who have gone through these games will need some rest.

“I don’t let the disappointment of drawing (against Birmingham City) affect my thought process on the schedule, because when we come back, we go into it again.

“So, I want everybody refreshed and ready to go again.

“They’re a great group of lads; I’m really enjoying working with them, and we’ll get that balance right in the next two weeks.”

Impact of returning injured Wrexham players

Wrexham would expect to see a huge positive impact from the returning players after the international break for several reasons.

The most obvious being that it gives Phil Parkinson more options from which to choose and so would offer more quality to the team.

Another reason is that it may force players to find form, as with options it means competition for places, which could help in their form.

A final reason would be that it could help reduce injuries, as the demands on players would be reduced with more options for rotation, with the Championship fixture list being demanding and unforgiving.
