Wrexham manager, Phil Parkinson has opened up about the FA Cup fourth-round draw which saw his side get Blackburn Rovers away.
This weekend saw Wrexham secure a win over local rivals Shrewsbury Town and progress to the next round of the FA Cup.
Thanks to a deflected Tom O’Connor goal, Phil Parkinson’s side secured a 1-0 win despite often being dominated during the game.
The draw for the fourth round took place this week and it saw the Reds draw Championship side, Blackburn Rovers.
This has seen them take a swipe at the Reds with a reference to ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘ on their social media.
Given the impact that the FA Cup run had on their season last year, another Championship away tie will mean a lot.

Phil Parkinson reacts to Blackburn away tie
Last campaign, Wrexham secured a win over Coventry City and were unlucky to lose against Sheffield United. This spurred the side on and was a hugely memorable part of their season which saw them get promoted.
This season saw them beat Yeovil Town in their first cup clash and then beat Shrewsbury despite Tom Flanagan’s opinion. Much to the delight of Elliot Lee.
It is clear that this cup draw against Blackburn has excited fans and in an interview with Leader Live, Parkinson has shared his opinion.
He discussed the fans and excitement. On that, he said: “It gives us an opportunity to take a large travelling army with us which always gives a special FA Cup feel to it. There is that bonus and it is a test for us against a Championship team.
“Of course, we would have loved a home draw but we didn’t get it and when the game comes, we will be prepared for it. To be in the fourth round of the FA Cup is exciting and when we get to that game we will have had a good look at Blackburn.
It is clear to see that the Wrexham boss knows what a game against a consistent Championship team will mean. A packed-out away end would certainly love to see a win.
Parkinson was full of praise for Blackburn as a club. He added: “Blackburn are a famous club, one of the founder members of the Football League, and we haven’t played them competitively for over 40 years. That’s great for the club and our supporters, to go to a ground many of them will never have visited.”
It is a great draw for Wrexham and hopefully, it’s another famous day for the Reds fans to remember for many years.
