Wrexham manager, Phil Parkinson has opened up about which players can step up in place of the suspended, George Evans this weekend.
Since signing for Wrexham, George Evans has been nothing short of a revelation in the heart of the midfield three.
Following promotion from the National League, things have gone rather well in League Two. This sees the Reds currently sit in third place.
Last time out, yet another win was secured as a ten-man Wrexham side took all three points at home to Colchester United. An own goal helped double their advantage set early on by Elliot Lee. There was a dampener as Evans was given his marching orders very early on.

This will see the Englishman miss three games with Newport County, Swindon Town and Walsall games coming up. With that being said, Phil Parkinson has suggested which players could play in place of Evans.
What has Phil Parkinson said?
It must be said that Evans has had a great impact since his move from Millwall over the summer. Him being missing will certainly have an impact on the side.
The midfield conversation has seen the new signing form a successful trio with Lee and Andy Cannon in recent months. This has seen Wrexham maintain their standing as one of the best sides in League Two.
With that all being said, missing Evans for three games will undoubtedly have an impact on the Reds. Parkinson doesn’t see it that way as he has been discussing his selection dilemma with Goal.
On that, he said: “George didn’t get straight in the team when he came in. He had to wait for his chance. We have got other players; Tom O’Connor can play in the middle, we have got Luke Young so we have got a lot of options in there.
“I am really disappointed for George but equally, it is an opportunity for somebody else to step in. We have got players who are eager to take their chance.”
It must be said that in Young and O’Connor, Parkinson has plenty of strength in depth when looking to replace Evans.
Although they don’t play in the same way as the Englishman, it is clear that Parkinson has hope that they can fill in. Given that Young is out of contract in the summer, he needs to step up and take this chance with both hands.
A derby with Newport is coming up and Evans will be missed. It is clear Parkinson isn’t concerned and he sees it as an opportunity, not a problem.
