Wrexham are reeling from a pre-season defeat to Sydney FC and the result may not be their biggest problem.
Wrexham’s 2-1 defeat to Sydney was marred by a potential injury blow to Ollie Rathbone on the stroke of half time.
Wrexham fans fear the worst for Rathbone after the midfielder was in a lot of pain following a collision with a Sydney defender.
It looked as though Rathbone was holding his ankle and after being helped off the pitch by physios, Phil Parkinson has now given an update on his condition.

Phil Parkinson reveals Ollie Rathbone heading straight for x-ray on injured ankle
Parkinson would not have been impressed by his team’s performance and their lack of urgency both in and out of possession.
The Wrexham boss will now be extremely worried over his player of the season from last year and has revealed Rathbone has headed straight to hospital for an x-ray on his injured ankle.
Rathbone was looking forward to the Championship with the Red Dragons but there are now big concerns that he will miss the start of the campaign.
Wrexham travel to New Zealand to face Wellington Phoenix and then their next scheduled fixture sees them travel to Southampton on the opening day of the season.
Midfield signing now even more urgent for Wrexham
Wrexham have been chasing a number of midfield targets this summer and the latest injury blow to Rathbone could see them accelerate those plans.
Tom Cairney has snubbed Wrexham in favour of staying at Premier League Fulham for another season, whilst there has been no progress on moves for Tom Lawrence or Charlie Savage.

Stuart Armstrong has held talks with the club over a potential free transfer after his release from Sheffield Wednesday and the Red Dragons remain interested in Blackburn’s Lewis Travis.
With the club due to return back to the UK next week, Parkinson will now be hoping for some rapid movement on one or two of his targets.
