Wrexham have confirmed a first deadline day signing as Phil Parkinson adds a new striker to his attacking ranks.
Phil Parkinson will be busy preparing for this weekend’s clash with Peterborough United but Wrexham are working on new signings too.
So many strikers have been linked over the course of the summer but Wrexham have now pounced.
Reports from Gambia on Thursday suggested that Wrexham would be signing Modou Faal from West Bromwich Albion.
That deal has now been completed with Wrexham confirming Faal’s arrival on a permanent basis.
Faal has signed a three-year deal at Wrexham with the option of another year, boosting Parkinson’s attacking numbers.

Phil Parkinson on Modou Faal transfer
Wrexham fans have been wanting a new striker all summer and the rumour mill has churned out name after name this summer.
Stephen Humphrys, Tom Bradshaw, Michael Smith, Bailey Cadamarteri, Kieran Bowie, John McAtee, Will Lankshear, Will Keane… the list just goes on and on.
Wrexham have now chosen Faal though having seemingly been impressed with his displays last season.
Faal hit nine goals in 33 games during a loan spell with Doncaster Rovers before finishing the season on loan at Walsall.
Faal scored six times in 20 games there, meaning his campaign totalled 15 goals in 53 appearances.
Wrexham have clearly seen talent and potential in Faal and boss Parkinson has now reacted to the move.
Speaking to Wrexham’s official website, Parkinson admitted that he is ‘delighted’ to have signed Faal.
Parkinson feels that Faal is an ‘exciting’ player who has already shown strong development during his loan spells away from West Brom.
Wrexham are now looking forward to seeing Faal continue that development at the STōK Cae Ras with Parkinson pleased to have him on board.
“I’m delighted to welcome Mo to the Club,” said Parkinson. “He’s an exciting young striker and has had a really good progression in his loan moves in the last couple of seasons; we’re really looking forward to working with him,” he added.
Faal can develop into a Wrexham star
Faal is far from the finished product.
The 21-year-old’s goals have come at National League and League Two level and whilst his numbers are good, they aren’t amazing.
Wrexham will need to be patient with Faal as he plays League One football for the first time and there may be some ups and downs.
Faal is a huge striker at around 6ft 4in tall and has very experienced strikers to learn from at Wrexham.
Ollie Palmer fits a similar kind of mould physically whilst Steven Fletcher has been known for his superb aerial ability over his long career.
Faal will need to take tips on board from both Palmer and Fletcher and he could become an absolute star at Wrexham if he can learn from those veteran forwards.
