Phil Parkinson was full of praise for striker Jack Marriott after Wrexham secured a 3-2 victory over Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.
Since completing a deadline-day move from Fleetwood Town at the start of the year, Marriott has found life at Wrexham difficult.
The 29-year-old has spent most of his time warming the bench as Steven Fletcher and Ollie Palmer were often preferred to partner goal machine Paul Mullin.
Marriott made just two starts in League Two last term, scoring once in a 6-0 drubbing of Forest Green Rovers, with the former Derby striker using pre-season to increase his importance to Phil Parkinson.
The Englishman played in most matches and grabbed the headlines for Wrexham after netting in the 2-2 draw against Chelsea, as the Reds went through their Wrex Coast Tour unbeaten.
Now, he’s translated his form in pre-season across to the league and Parkinson has explained one factor that has impacted him positively.

Why Wrexham can now see the best of Jack Marriott
Rob McElhenney has tipped Marriott to shine after scoring a wonderful volley in the 3-2 win over Wycombe Wanderers.
It was only his second goal for Wrexham since arriving in February, with the striker now keen to go on a run of scoring before Mullin returns to action.
Parkinson is inclined to agree with that opinion, as the former Golden Boot winner at Peterborough United is now settled in the area after recently moving, a factor that can see him continue to prosper.
As per The Leader, Parkinson said: “Jack has got good pedigree, he has scored goals in the Championship and the top end of this division.
“He has moved up into the area now which is great, we have got him settled where he want him so we can really work with him.
“He is not travelling too much and he is a great lad. The lads love him, he is a team player but all strikers want to put the ball in the back of the net and he has done that with great style.”
Dubbing him ‘outstanding’ for his display against the Chair Boys, Marriott will now hope to score against Championship opposition, as Wrexham travel to Sheffield United in round one of the Carabao Cup.

Marriott can give Phil Parkinson a selection headache
Marriott’s sumptuous volley last time out was a true show of his quality and the level he’s capable of reaching.
Supporters were denied the opportunity to see him flourish last term but while Mullin is injured, he’s the most likely candidate to lead the line.
Indeed, once the Wrexham hitman is available for selection, it could supply Parkinson with a selection headache because if Marriott continues scoring in the coming weeks, he won’t want to drop him.
However, Wrexham’s top scorer across the last three seasons is also undroppable when fully fit and that unfortunately means Marriott could make way for him.
Parkinson has proven in the past that he doesn’t like playing the duo together, instead opting for one of Fletcher or Palmer alongside the Liverpudlian.
It will be interesting to see how Wrexham lineup once their star striker returns and how Marriott’s game time is impacted.
