Phil Parkinson shares the ‘feeling’ he senses from Wrexham fans after beating Lincoln City

Wrexham continue to go strong in the League One table, sitting second after Tuesday’s 1-0 home win over Lincoln City.

Winning two promotions in a row is quite the achievement, but Wrexham aren’t content with that.

Wrexham have progressed from National League to League One in rapid fashion under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.

Humphrey Ker wants Wrexham to consolidate in League One but Reynolds wanted another promotion – and Phil Parkinson is trying to make it happen.

Wrexham have started the season admirably, winning 10 of the first 17 League One games to sit second in the table.

Wins over Exeter City and Lincoln City have got Wrexham right back on track after defeat to Stockport County, providing a huge boost for Parkinson.

Phil Parkinson on Wrexham fans

Wrexham have stumbled away from home at times this season but displays at the STōK Cae Ras have been brilliant.

With just two points dropped at home all season, Wrexham are the best home team in League One so far this term.

Nobody fancies a trip to the STōK Cae Ras right now with Wrexham proving to be a real juggernaut at home.

Parkinson has now been asked just how Wrexham are so great at home – especially with that patchy away form.

Parkinson has told The Athletic that he feels there are a number of factors behind that strong record – but highlighted the role of the supporters.

The Wrexham boss feels that the strong home crowd plays a ‘huge part’ for Wrexham, believing that the ‘humble’ Wrexham fans feel they really need to get behind the team every single week.

“It’s a combination of many things,” said Parkinson.

“The supporters play a huge part, which I think you saw tonight. They are humble at this club and don’t take winning for granted. They come here with a feeling that they have to do their bit for the lads,” he added.

Wrexham will hope for another big home win

Wrexham have the weekend off having already been knocked out of the FA Cup.

Defeat to Harrogate Town in the first round means that Wrexham have no fixture this weekend, so the attention turns to next Tuesday’s clash with Barnsley.

This will be Wrexham’s third home game in a row and Parkinson will be keen to make it a hat-trick of wins.

Lincoln boss Michael Skubala predicted a lively Wrexham atmosphere before Tuesday’s game, so it’s clear that managers are well aware of the support Parkinson and co receive.

Barnsley will be the next challengers looking to ruin that superb home record, but Wrexham will be confident of a third straight win – especially with the home backing.
