Wrexham continue to be busy in the transfer market and could unleash new signing Kieffer Moore on Southampton this weekend.

Phil Parkinson was always likely to be busy in the transfer market this summer, with Wrexham looking to compete at Championship level.

Business was a little slow at first, but Wrexham have now completed eight summer signings ahead of the new season.

Conor Coady became Wrexham’s seventh summer signing last week, completing a £2million move from Leicester City.

Parkinson now has another striker on board, with Kieffer Moore joining Wrexham from Sheffield United this week.

Moore has signed a three-year deal at the STōK Cae Ras and will become Parkinson’s new target man in attack.

Phil Parkinson on Kieffer Moore

Moore is a proven Championship striker, racking up 200 appearances at this level across spells with Ipswich Town, Barnsley, Wigan Athletic, Cardiff City, Bournemouth and Sheffield United.

The 32-year-old is no stranger to many Wrexham fans, as he has also earned 49 caps for Wales since switching his allegiance in 2019.

Moore now arrives to spearhead Wrexham’s attack and offers a huge aerial threat at 6ft 5in tall.

Parkinson will weigh up throwing Moore into the Wrexham starting XI against Southampton this weekend, and has now praised the striker after securing his signature.

Speaking to BBC Radio Solent, Parkinson noted that Moore is a ‘target man’ who brings something different to the Wrexham attack.

Parkinson suggested that Moore offers so much more than just a physical presence, though, praising his ‘selflessness’ alongside his personality and character as reasons behind his Wrexham move.

“With Kieffer, I think with strikers, it’s good to have a selection of different options and Kieffer is kind of that target man type, a physical presence at the top of the pitch, but he works for the team,” said Parkinson.

“I think the days of a stand-still big man who’s not going to work out of possession are long gone, but what Kieffer does, he plays with a selflessness about his game, and it’s not just the way he plays, but with his personality and character, we were keen to bring him on board,” he added.

Kieffer Moore arrival should spark Wrexham exits

Moore is a major signing for Wrexham and appears to fit the mould of what Parkinson likes up top.

Ollie Palmer has been a huge part of Wrexham’s rise and offered that big, physical presence in attack.

Moore looks set to take over that role moving forward, but his arrival has really bloated Wrexham’s attacking numbers.

Moore joins Josh Windass, Ryan Hardie, Sam Smith, Jay Rodriguez, Jack Marriott, Modou Faal and the aforementioned Palmer up top.

It’s surely time for Wrexham to move some players on, with Faal in need of a loan move to enhance his development.

Palmer is likely to go as well, and we would not be surprised to see Marriott receive some interest towards the end of the window as he slips down the pecking order.
