There seems to be no stopping the weird and wonderful Wrexham transfer rumours from emerging this summer. We might now have another.
Wrexham are the talk of the Championship following their promotion from League One last season, which was a historic third-straight promotion for the Welsh club.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have definitely put the club on the global map and they’re showing every season that they’re genuine competitors, although their ‘Disney FC’ tag may not shake anytime soon.
Wrexham are backed to finish mid-table in the Championship in what would be a solid showing. Though expect Phil Parkinson and co to want to maintain their current momentum and challenge for an unthinkable promotion to the Premier League.
And ahead of the new season, there’s some stunning transfer rumours emerging from the Racecourse. The most illustrious of which is the rumour that Wrexham are interested in signing Christian Eriksen this summer.
Now, there’s another name mentioned as a possible transfer target.

Chances of Paul Pogba signing for Wrexham discussed
A Hollywood club like Wrexham could be the perfect comeback for Paul Pogba who’s currently a free agent, and looking for his next club. The former Juventus and Man United man, who won the World Cup with France in 2018 and cost United £89million two years before, has now been mentioned in conversation with Wrexham by former player Florent Malouda.
Speaking to GOAL, former French international Malouda was discussing Pogba’s future and the idea of the 32-year-old possibility joining Wrexham. Malouda explained: “Firstly, he has to adjust physically to the intensity of the games. He doesn’t know how his body will react. So I think a move in clubs like Wrexham wouldn’t help him achieve what he has in mind. I definitely believe that he wants to play the next World Cup with France. He wants to lead France in the World Cup.
“It would be too risky for his career because there would be too much pressure on his shoulders, too much expectation individually – he needs to join a team with a strong collective already.”

Wrexham ready to spend big on player wages, but not for Paul Pogba
We don’t need to do much explaining to say that Pogba to Wrexham is beyond dreaming. He was earning £300,000-a-week or more at Old Trafford. Meanwhile, the Dragons are pushing the boat out for £30,000-a-week.
Alan Nixon recently revealed that Wrexham will offer big money to new players this summer. They’re ready to compete with the top-end Championship clubs and offer up to £30,000-a-week, so that rules out any chances of signing Pogba who would command a six-figure salary at the very least.
Wrexham have a £39million allowance for the Championship next season. But it’s reported that £25million of that amount could be put towards transfer fees, meaning there’s a balancing act needed between transfer spending and spending on wages.
Expect one or two real marquee signings this summer, on big money. But nothing in the way of Pogba-type money.
