One former Wrexham player has now outlined why owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac need credit for one thing that has happened in 2025.

Wrexham have now won three promotions under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.

They are competing in the Championship for the first time since its rebrand, and they have made some big changes to their squad this summer.

Eight players were released in May, and eight new signings have already been made in the current window, with more expected.

Ben Tozer praises Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac

In the last month or so, Wrexham have smashed their transfer record twice and could do so again with the addition of Nathan Broadhead for £7.5m.

The Red Dragons have also already spent far more than they ever have this summer in one window under Rob and Ryan.

And Ben Tozer has now said the owners deserve credit for how they have approached the transfer window.

He said Reynolds and Mac could have taken their foot off the gas, but they have not done so, while also praising their decision to trust Phil Parkinson’s judgment in the market.

Tozer said, as per BBC Sport: “You have to give the owners credit because it would be easy to back off and consolidate after the last few years,” added Tozer.

“But they’ve given the gaffer the freedom and trust to sign whoever he wants – and it’s a different calibre of players.

“And it’s not as if they’re running themselves into the ground financially.”

Why did Ben Tozer leave Wrexham

Tozer joined Wrexham in Rob and Ryan’s first summer at the helm, signing for an undisclosed fee.

He went on to make 131 appearances for the club and captained them on multiple occasions during their promotion-winning seasons of 2022/23 and 2023/24.

However, Tozer fell out of favour towards the end of the Dragons’ League Two campaign, not featuring in their final 11 league matches.

The former centre-back was out of contract in June 2024, and Wrexham decided to release him for free that summer.

Parkinson commented at the time, as per ESPN. He said: “Ben Tozer and Luke Young have not had as much game time in the last few months, but as club captain and first-team captain they have showed great leadership for the Club.

“All the players leaving the Club go with our very grateful thanks for their efforts and contributions during their time at Wrexham.”
