Wrexham continue to make strides under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds with their impact even being noted in the House of Commons.

Wrexham sit third in the League One table having made a strong start to the campaign under Phil Parkinson.

Being in League One for the 2024-25 season would have been a dream for Wrexham fans just a few years ago.

Add in the influence of Hollywood ownership and some Wrexham supporters may still be pinching themselves.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds paid £2million to buy Wrexham in 2021 and have changed the club’s fortunes.

Now flying high in League One and raking in fans from all over the world thanks to ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, few clubs can match the buzz of Wrexham right now.

Wrexham’s Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds praised in House of Commons

McElhenney and Reynolds have really taken the Wrexham community to their hearts too.

Wrexham fans were happy with McElhenney and Reynolds buying Wrexham Lager last week, with the duo continuing to involve themselves around the area.

It’s not just the football club which is buzzing but the city has been given an injection of life off the back of McElhenney and Reynolds.

Wrexham MP Andrew Ranger has now praised both McElhenney and Reynolds whilst making his first speech in the House of Commons.

As quoted by wrexham.com Ranger highlighted the rich history of Wrexham and poked some fun at Arsenal fans around him.

Ranger then praised McElhenney and Reynolds, believing that they have made a ‘remarkable’ difference to Wrexham as a football club and as a city.

“Of course, I could not talk about Wrexham and not mention football,” said Rangers. “Wrexham association football club is the third oldest professional association football club in the world, and our home ground, the Racecourse, is the world’s oldest international football stadium that still hosts international matches.

“Much in the spotlight recently, the club has an illustrious history. I know that certain Members of the House are Arsenal supporters, and in Wrexham we still take great pride in knocking out the then-first division champions from the FA Cup in 1992 and earning a reputation as giant killers.

“Of course, today Wrexham is a team transformed, since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the club a few years ago. The difference they have made to the club and to Wrexham in just a short time is remarkable — back in the Football League after a 15-year absence, our first league title in 45 years, and back-to-back promotions,” he added.

What is next for Wrexham?

McElhenney and Reynolds can’t have imagined being brought in House of Commons when they arrived at Wrexham, but here we are.

Their impact around Wrexham has been immense and we can only hope that they continue to support and invest in Wrexham for years to come.

Many will question what comes next for McElhenney, Reynolds and Wrexham as the clubs’ rise continues.

Promotion to the Championship would be huge but even if that doesn’t happen this season, Wrexham are on the right track.

Wrexham’s home is full of history but the club are exploring expansion routes in order to help the growth of the club.

Wrexham have teamed up with architects Populous to conjure up plans for expansion at the STōK Cae Ras and that seems to be a big priority.

That would see even bigger crowds at the STōK Cae Ras with Wrexham set to become a hot destination for fans across the world.
