Wrexham have enjoyed a busy Wednesday with Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds continuing to strike deals around the club.
This has been a welcome midweek off for Wrexham.
We are used to the Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday grind of League One football at this time of year, but Wrexham have had a free midweek this time.
Phil Parkinson will be busy preparing for this weekend’s FA Cup clash against Harrogate Town but Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have been busy away from the pitch.
Wrexham have confirmed fresh investment from the Allyn family with McElhenney and Reynolds ‘blown away’ by the new investors.
That was big enough news for the day but McElhenney and Reynolds have struck another deal elsewhere.
Wrexham fans react to Wrexham Lager deal
McElhenney and Reynolds took to YouTube on Wednesday afternoon to confirm that they are now the co-owners of Wrexham Lager.
Founded way, way back in 1881, Wrexham Lager has been an iconic brand in Wrexham for a long, long time.
Revived in 2011 after 11 years away, Wrexham Lager has featured on Wrexham’s official shirts over the years.
McElhenney and Reynolds have really bought into that tradition and have now become co-owners of the brand.
Wrexham fans love the news but it has really struck a chord over in the United States.
One fan stated ‘I love Wrexham Lager – bring it to the States!’ whilst another commented on Wrexham’s social media post saying ‘Can’t wait till this makes it to USA shores. Probably the only thing better would be draft.’
Another wrote ‘Massive that. Fair play,’ said another Wrexham fan whilst one fan stated ‘Great news and from the outside it seems a great fit for all involved.’
This news has gone down well lat home and abroad with Wrexham Lager now set to be enjoyed all far and wide.
Iconic away shirt on the wish list
This deal may well open up the chance for Wrexham Lager to feature on Wrexham shirts again in the future.
We have become used to seeing United Airlines and TikTok on Wrexham shirts in recent years but seeing Wrexham Lager on shirts again would really connect with this fanbase.
A sky blue away shirt with Wrexham Lager on the front would sell in big numbers, even if only as a limited edition release.
This new deal opens up plenty of possibilities and again demonstrates the commitment McElhenney and Reynolds are showing to Wrexham as a whole, not just the football club.
