Wrexham locals have admitted that there have been some issues that have come with the delight of Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ time with the club.
Following McElhenney and Reynold’s purchase of Wrexham in November 2020, things have only improved in red.
Under the tutelage of Phil Parkinson, the Dragons now find themselves in second place in League Two after 15 years in the National League.
With the American ownership has come lots of additional interest in the Reds from nearby and further afield.
This has seen the Kop stand demolished and plans are in place to rebuild it in the near future. This is done to allow the capacity at The Racecourse to increase.
Although this sounds overly positive some fans who live local to the world’s oldest international football ground, have had some issues.

What have Wrexham locals said?
Speaking with The Sun, many locals to The Racecourse have been open about the situation they currently find themselves in.
Some of the issues are as simple as how busy the surrounding area becomes, which affects people’s day.
Discussing that, one of the locals said: “We even get lots of tourists. The only downside is the roads are closed around match days so you have to watch not to get caught out.
“It’s a bit of a nightmare on match days with the traffic and parking. You become a prisoner in your own home.”
Although this may not seem like a massive problem to some, it is the additional issues that come with that.
Discussing an additional problem caused by this, locals said: “I’ve seen one fight over parking. There was a lot of shouting and pushing and shouting and a few punches thrown. It was crazy.”
This isn’t representative of Wrexham at all but some fans have slightly tarnished the reputation in some sense.
Locals still see the positive side
Although there are some pitfalls to being one of the locals living right next to The Racecourse, fans are still happy.
One the pros and cons, one fan said: “It’s got busier for sure. But it’s great what the owners have done for the club and the town.”
This was shared by another fan who said: “It’s very exciting. There is a problem with the traffic, mind.”
If you could trade some traffic problems with being second in League Two at the first time of asking, most fans would take it.
This fan saw the silver lining: “I think it’s brilliant living near the football club.
“It’s a great atmosphere and very exciting with all the fans and especially with the American owners.”
It must be said that it would be frustrating as locals to have to put up with the surrounding areas getting busier all of a sudden.
With that being said, it is of huge benefit to the city to have the football club doing so well. McElhenney and Reynolds have put Wrexham on the map and that can only be a good thing as a general rule.
