Wrexham fans would be forgiven for feeling a little lost this weekend as the international break leaves supporters without domestic action.
Many fanbases are experiencing their second international break of the season.
That isn’t the case for Wrexham though, who beat Shrewsbury Town 3-0 in the last international break.
Phil Parkinson’s men have earned a rest this weekend but preparations for Rotherham United will begin soon enough.
Fans may been a little lost without a dose of Wrexham, although many will have watched Wales throw away a potential victory against Iceland on Friday.
Rob McElhenney jokes about potential Wrexham signing
As for Rob McElhenney, he is back in the United States.
The Wrexham co-owner was up in Oregon as he dropped in to watch the Oregon Ducks against the Ohio State Buckeyes in a huge college football matchup.
McElhenney was treated to an entertaining game but also watched on as one Ducks fan won big money live on ESPN.
Standing alongside big names Pat McAfee and Nick Saban, McElhenney watched on as Oregon student Kyle Kramer stepped up to attempt a field goal.
$100,000 was on offer from McAfee if Kramer made the kick – and he smashed it straight down the middle to spark wild celebrations from fans, mascots and celebrities alike.
McElhenney took to social media to send a message, joking that he was ‘looking into a work visa’ to sign Kramer for Wrexham.
We won’t be seeing Kramer gracing the STōK Cae Ras pitch any time soon but perhaps McElhenney will look to fly him in for a Wrexham game at some point.
McElhenney facing big talks at Wrexham
McElhenney will be enjoying his international break, no doubt a little more relaxed without a Wrexham scoreline to worry about this weekend.
There are big things on the horizon for McElhenney though with Wrexham chasing a groundbreaking agreement.
Reports a couple of weeks ago suggested that Wrexham are in talks to join the Welsh League Cup.
This would see Wrexham chase a route into European football via the Welsh League Cup and therefore forego any potential qualification through English competition.
Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson thinks the move would be ‘amazing’ and there will be plenty of hoops for McElhenney and co to jump through.
There is hope that an agreement can be reached before 2025 though with Wrexham potentially taking a huge step in this incredible journey.
