Wrexham are now preparing for Championship football having secured a third straight promotion under Phil Parkinson.

Wrexham’s 2024-25 campaign is over, and more promotion celebrations are currently ongoing in Las Vegas.

Phil Parkinson has masterminded a third straight promotion, with Wrexham beating Charlton Athletic 3-0 to secure a spot in the Championship.

Wrexham then beat Lincoln City 2-0 to end the campaign in style, racking up 92 points in the process.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have funded another promotion party for Parkinson’s squad, but the preparations for Championship life will soon begin in earnest.

Rob McElhenney on Wrexham promotion

Wrexham could have settled for back-to-back promotions and stabilised in League One before making another push for the Championship.

Instead, Parkinson has guided Wrexham to the second tier – and McElhenney believes Wrexham are not done just yet.

McElhenney has now spoken to Men In Blazers and was asked for the moment he knew Wrexham would be going up for a third year in a row.

McElhenney admitted that, as soon as Wycombe Wanderers lost to Leyton Orient shortly before Wrexham kicked off against Charlton Athletic, promotion would come.

Wrexham coasted past the Addicks with a 3-0 victory as Sam Smith’s stunning volley left Reynolds stunned.

McElhenney claims he wasn’t nervous at all during that day, as he simply felt it in his bones that Wrexham would get the job done and secure second place.

“The Charlton game, in which we clinched, I promise you – I swear – and we have photographic evidence of this, I was not nervous at all. I was not angsty or edgy,” said McElhenney.

“Once Wycombe lost earlier in the day, I just knew we were going to win. I just felt it in my bones and I was not nervous,” he added.

McElhenney’s optimism feels contagious

Anybody who has watched ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ or paid attention to McElhenney and Reynolds will know that McElhenney is a little more ‘glass half full’ than Reynolds.

That isn’t to say that Reynolds is pessimistic, but McElhenney’s optimism is truly contagious.

We saw McElhenney vow that Wrexham are not finished yet, and the immediate thought for us was… why not? Why not dream of more success?

Three promotions in a row felt impossible but Wrexham made it happen, so dreaming of more success is just natural at this point.

McElhenney speaks so eloquently and with so much conviction that you can’t help but dream alongside him.

Wrexham may not make it four promotions in a row, but McElhenney will want to get to the Premier League in the near future – and we certainly won’t back against him.
